Historia
No one’s more surprised than Leigh when a prestigious MFA program in North Carolina accepts her. A former sorority girl, Leigh’s the first to admit she knows more about the lyrics of Taylor Swift than T.S. Eliot, and she’s never been able to shake the “all-style-no-substance” feedback her high school crush made in their poetry workshop. Leigh's insecurities become all too real when Will, that same high school crush-turned-nemesis, shows up at orientation. And now, he’s William, exactly the kind of writer Leigh hates, complete with his pretentious sweater vests and tattered Moleskine

Favorite book of 2025 thus far! 😍🥹🥰
Revisado: 02-25-25
So much to say about this book of romance— where do I start? The narration is excellent, I felt fully immersed as the story developed and unfolded. I loved the topics that were discussed where characters had to deal with their insecurities and become vulnerable in order to grow in confidence of their self. A must for all fans of the genre and even more so for excellent writing! 🙌🏽💯

Sharply observant and outrageously funny, Rejection is a provocative plunge into the touchiest problems of modern life. The seven connected stories seamlessly transition between the personal crises of a complex ensemble and the comic tragedies of sex, relationships, identity, and the internet.

Bonkers! Insanely well written and matched performance wise as well!
Revisado: 12-09-24
“…first and most importantly, lol.” A book that is intense — detailed & meticulously niche, it all gets out of hand real quick and you’re in it for the ride of discovering hidden desires, designed deliberately one way or another that will have you wondering if there is an endgame. If so, what then?

It’s about the willingness to learn the names of one’s pains & how can anyone be gone when they’re very much a part of your present. Fall for Amy Lin’s Kurtis & his capacity to love as he decisively tells her: “You weren’t a choice. It was always you.” A lyrical marvel that will hold your heart tenderly, please let it.

Historia
Darcie Wilder's Literally Show Me a Healthy Person is a careful confession soaking in saltwater, a size B control top jet black pantyhose dragged over a skinned knee and slipped into unlaced doc martens. Blurring the lines of the written word, Literally Show Me a Healthy Person is a portrait of a young girl, or woman, or something; grappling with the immediate and seemingly endless urge to document and describe herself and the world around her.

Experimental writing at its best!
Revisado: 04-14-23
Experimental and very much of its time circa 2017 when twitter was at its peak perhaps? And thus the writing is similar in that vein, in the form of tweets/thoughts/facts, auto fiction that slowly but surely becomes a modern day novel where one’s attention span is often limited to the present despite how the past keeps coming back and the future is far from enticing but coming regardless of how we feel about it.
I listened to the audiobook because the author is the narrator and it does wonders when trying to get a grasp in the beginning, of how this book should be read in a way… I was engaged and very much felt the funny moments as well as the moments that are all too real and felt if we’re only honest with ourselves and tell it as it is.

Historia
In this heartrending, lyrical debut work of fiction, Fatimah Asghar traces the intense bond of three orphaned siblings who, after their parents die, are left to raise one another. The youngest, Kausar, grapples with the incomprehensible loss of her parents as she also charts out her own understanding of gender; Aisha, the middle sister, spars with her "crybaby" younger sibling as she desperately tries to hold on to her sense of family in an impossible situation; and Noreen, the eldest, does her best in the role of sister-mother while also trying to create a life for herself.

Love this book so much and sooooo grateful for the amazing narration via the audiobook!!
I was teary eyed, stunned, and absolutely floored by the way the story is told. This lyrical book is full of the biggest of feelings.
If you’re new to poets writing novels — they totally do and more will/should so let this book be your first!

Historia
Pocket Change Collective is a series of small books with big ideas from today's leading activists and artists. In this installment, Beyond the Gender Binary, Alok Vaid-Menon challenges the world to see gender not in black and white, but in full color. Taking from their own experiences as a gender-nonconforming artist, they show us that gender is a malleable and creative form of expression. The only limit is your imagination.

A must read book in order to achieve a more inclusive world to live in
Revisado: 10-27-21
Loved the fact that the writer was also the narrator! Appreciated every bit of personal anecdote that was given as they tried to stress how important it is that we think beyond the gender binary! I know I have much more to unlearn and learn in order to be more inclusive and truly accept people as they are and this book was such an excellent start to begin my journey! Read it, listen to it, please! 💖🙌🏽

Historia
In this exquisite story of family, food, grief, and endurance, Michelle Zauner proves herself far more than a dazzling singer, songwriter, and guitarist. With humor and heart, she tells of growing up one of the few Asian-American kids at her school in Eugene, Oregon; of struggling with her mother's particular high expectations of her; of a painful adolescence; of treasured months spent in her grandmother's tiny apartment in Seoul, where she and her mother would bond, late at night, over heaping plates of food.
