Thoroughly enjoyable
Revisado: 08-03-24
Ray Porter's narration was great. The story was excellent: not too over-the-top and entertaining all the way through. I would love to read more books along the same lines. Can this be included in some kind of series?

Historia
Lost in time, the town of Black Creek, Kentucky becomes home to temporal layers of people, creatures, and monsters from disparate eras. Journey beyond the time of humanity and witness the rewriting of mankind’s genesis. For Owen McCoy, a typical day on the job as head of security for Synergy, a research company conducting mysterious experiments, is boring at best. And that’s the way he likes it. Patrolling the Appalachian mountainside, where his now deceased father taught him how to hunt, is relaxing and connects him to the past.

Great narration. I found it to be a captivating mix of science fantasy and science fiction. I enjoyed the first three quarters the book best.

Historia
In 2204, humanity is expanding into the wider galaxy in leaps and bounds. Cutting-edge technology of linked jump gates has rendered most forms of transportation - including starships - virtually obsolete. Every place on Earth, every distant planet humankind has settled, is now a step away from any other. And all seems wonderful - until a crashed alien spaceship of unknown origin is found on a newly located world 89 light-years from Earth, carrying a cargo as strange as it is horrifying. To assess the potential of the threat a high-powered team is dispatched to investigate. But one of them may not be all they seem....

This one disappointed me
Revisado: 07-13-22
I have loved other books by Peter F Hamilton. This one had such a complicated storyline that it was hard for me to follow it and keep straight what was going on.
John Lee is a great narrator, whom I have loved in other performances. He did not work well for me here. There are too many different characters and too many different voices for me to tell them apart with his narration. I think John the probably works best with a very small cast of characters.

Historia
Civil war looms in the Bobiverse in this brand-new, epic-length adventure by Audible number one best seller Dennis E. Taylor. More than a hundred years ago, Bender set out for the stars and was never heard from again. There has been no trace of him despite numerous searches by his clone-mates. Now Bob is determined to organize an expedition to learn Bender’s fate - whatever the cost. But nothing is ever simple in the Bobiverse. Bob’s descendants are out to the 24th generation now, and replicative drift has produced individuals who can barely be considered Bobs anymore.

I heard a couple of people say that they liked the first three books better. Not so for me. The same outstanding narration. Good character development. Plus fascinating, thought-provoking events. I loved it and want more.

Historia
How do master storytellers compel us? There have been many attempts to understand what makes a good story, but few have used a scientific approach. In The Science of Storytelling, Will Storr applies dazzling psychological research and cutting-edge neuroscience to our myths and archetypes to show how we can tell better stories, revealing, among other things, how storytellers - and also our brains - create worlds by being attuned to moments of unexpected change.

Good, but a little bit of a letdown
Revisado: 10-26-21
The book was good. The story was good. The narrator was excellent (as usual). This audiobook was just not as good as the main Expeditionary Force series. The characters were not quite as interesting. It did not have as much humor and was not as engaging as the books in the original series. In any case, I want to repeat that the book was good; it just did not live up to my (very high) expectations.

It was engaging, even captivating, at times. I enjoyed the narrator. Most of the time the storyline drew me effortlessly along. At other times it seemed to drag, and I found myself waiting for the energy to return.

Historia
Finite games, like football or chess, have known players, fixed rules, and a clear endpoint. The winners and losers are easily identified. Infinite games, games with no finish line, like business or politics, or life itself, have players who come and go. The rules of an infinite game are changeable, while infinite games have no defined endpoint. There are no winners or losers - only ahead and behind. The question is, how do we play to succeed in the game we’re in? In this revelatory new audiobook, Simon Sinek offers a framework for leading with an infinite mindset.

Captivating
Revisado: 08-05-21
Wayward Galaxy was "difficult to put down" with nonstop action and suspense that somehow managed to never make me tire of it. I liked all of the main characters and found myself rooting for them. RC Bray was, as usual, great as narrator. I look forward to reading the next books in the series.
