This series is fast-paced, exciting, and riveting. The characters are well-developed, and sympathetic. It is very well-written, especially compared to others in this genre. I really recommend it.

The Name is a clue

I liked this series, as a whole. The Reader should be warned: “Endless” is a good description of the books. They don’t end, they stop. I’ve backed up and listened to the last several chapters again, because i thought I’d missed the conclusion. There are significant issues unresolved at the end of each book. If this bugs you, be warned.

Reasonably good story

This book is typical of the genre. The premise is interesting, and the writing is better than average. The performance, however, demonstrates why authors, in general, shouldn't read their own work. The delivery is staccato, and monotonous. The phrasing ignored the sense of the text, and the characters. Unfortunately, this detracts from enjoyment of the book.

Love Wheaton as Narrator of this book.

I love John Scalzi as an author, he is one of the 2 or 3 authors that I follow. This book has a great premise, and interesting plotting. With Will Wheaton reading, the book comes to life. His style is the perfect partner for Scalzi's fiction. I'm hoping to see more Scalzi books with Wheaton as narrator.

Good story, excellent narration

This is a wonderful series with an intriguing story concept. More than this, it has an excellent narrator. I actually had to look at the "By" line to see that one person was reading the story.

And, the vocal characterization is spot-on. My husband, at one point when I was playing the story aloud, said that he didn't like the reader's voice. He said the voice put him in mind of someone who is "whiney, nasty and who people disliked." The story was in one of Sloane's sections. I said, "That's the character."

I really dislike the sing-song narration

He is not the only one that does this. It's the pattern: da-dit-dit-da-dit-da-dit-dit-da-dit-da-dit. It is annoying enough to interfere with my enjoyment of the book.

Another winner in the Mistborn world

In this series, the Renascence world of the Mistborn has been updated to Victorian steam-punk. Mr. Sanderson does an excellent job of blending magic and the Industrial Age. Mr. Kramer is versatile in his vocal characterization of the story, and provides an immersive experience of the book. This is a distinct advantage of Audiobooks over print.

The story is unusual

For people familiar with Piers Anthony's writing style, this was the series that showed me that for Mr. Anthony, writing style is as much a function of the series as the cast of characters. I think it amazing that he could write this at the same time as Xanth books and others in different styles.

I did not care for the narrator's Winchell -like newsreader delivery. It distances the reader from the story, while I think a more immersive reading of the book would be better.

It didn't put me off the audiobook series, though. Great book!
