Historia
In Egypt, all things are possible. So discovers Albion Stanley, a recent Cambridge graduate and brilliant linguist, newly arrived in Cairo in 1902. Albion sees the unseen, including ghosts. It is a less than comfortable reality, which he tends to with copious amounts of whiskey and numerous other vices. Also in Cairo is Aleister Crowley, the famed occultist. Aleister is a dangerous man, but not an unsympathetic one and never a dull one. Together, they discover the world of dead Egyptians, some of whom are older than the pyramids.

Must be comfortable with LGBTQ+
Revisado: 11-20-24
The story is for adults/mature people, it has sex! Egypt is such a great place to have a story take place. I enjoyed the author’s use of Egyptian history and mythology (for lack of a better term). The places and people are based in reality, which I feel adds to the intrigue. The storyline was engaging and keeps you reading to the end.
The Audible book narrated by Nick Johnson was very well done.

Historia
Cletus Byron Winston wishes to marry Jennifer Anne Donner-Sylvester (aka The Banana Cake Queen) posthaste! He’s spent the last year wanting nothing more than for the celebrations to be brief, libations flowing, and BYOB (bring your own blueberries). His future mother-in-law has other plans - plans his intended has been willing to indulge, much to Cletus’s chagrin. Therefore, so must he. To a point. But truth be told, he wouldn’t mind if the meddlesome matriarch disappeared, at least until the nuptials are over.

Gotta Love the Winston Family
Revisado: 08-08-22
This book is the second in the series featuring Cletus and Jenn. If you’ve read book one then you already know how much fun it is to see this duo think through life‘s problems in a unique way. They truly seem to be the perfect pair and are fun to “shadow” as life sends them curve balls. If you haven’t checked out other books by Penny Reed featuring the Winston family I highly recommend it! A Period Mystery
Revisado: 08-01-22
Lady Frances Ffolkes is a fun character and the author does a fine job at bringing the history of that era to life. With a peek into Parliament, feelings about the wars and women suffragettes all weaved in and around a compelling mystery. A great listen.

Historia
Clare Cosi used to manage the historic Village Blend coffeehouse…until she opted for quieter pastures and a more suburban life. But after ten years and a little friendly cajoling from the owner (a fresh pot of Jamaican Blue Mountain was all it took), she's back to the grind. With a sprawling rent-free apartment directly above the Village Blend, her cat Java by her side, and plenty of coffeehouse redecorating ideas, Clare is thrilled to return to work. Until she discovers the assistant manager unconscious in the back of the store, coffee grounds strewn everywhere.

Fun Listen
Revisado: 07-31-22
Being a coffee lover how could I not be interested in a series about a coffee house?!? The main character had me yelling at her to STOP at times, showing how easy it is to relate and feel apart of the story. The twist at the end got me and was well done. Looking forward to listening to other books in the series.
