Waiting for this podcast for years!
Revisado: 02-20-23
Sadly, none of my friends ever were willing to read this series. So all my thoughts about the Dark Tower have had to ferment in the back of my mind until I heard this podcast. I was amazed even after re-reading all the books; I've learned new things and had new insights into the mind of Stephen King and the multi-universe of the Dark Tower thanks to this podcast. I’m looking forward to every episode of this show!

Narrator is truly awful
Revisado: 04-24-20
If you are going to commit to listening to a book for a 49 hours, the narrator should be tolerable. Why would a book about a southern woman have a narrator that does not have a southern accent? Really??????

Historia
Since his wife died, Ralph Roberts has been having trouble sleeping. Each night he wakes up a bit earlier until he's barely sleeping at all. During his late-night walks, he observes some strange things going on in Derry, Maine. He sees colored ribbons streaming from people's heads, two strange little men wandering around town after dark, and more. He begins to suspect that these visions are something more than hallucinations brought on by lack of sleep.

Interesting Story, Terrible Production
Revisado: 01-29-20
I was hoping that the listeners were exaggerating about the annoying music but it was as bad or worse than I had thought. The music has no purpose, does not add to the performance or provide audio clues to anything important. I really hope that the people who made those decisions learned from their mistakes (or were shunned by the Audiobook production companies!) and don't continue this awful performance in other audiobooks. I recommend that only people who have read this book previously and who are able to tune out annoying noises listen to this. I really would like the company that made this to rethink it and release a new music-free performance.

Historia
Roshar is a world of stone and storms. Uncanny tempests of incredible power sweep across the rocky terrain so frequently that they have shaped ecology and civilization alike. Animals hide in shells, trees pull in branches, and grass retracts into the soilless ground. Cities are built only where the topography offers shelter. It has been centuries since the fall of the 10 consecrated orders known as the Knights Radiant, but their Shardblades and Shardplate remain: mystical swords and suits of armor.

Like listening to a D&D rule book
Revisado: 04-07-14
I had great hopes for this book, but I found myself dreading it when I forced myself to listen to the story. There were bright moments when the story dealt with the characters but there was way to much time (maybe why it was 45 hours) spent on how gemstones were acquired.

Historia
Carl Mørck used to be one of Denmark’s best homicide detectives. Then a hail of bullets destroyed the lives of two fellow cops, and Carl - who didn’t draw his weapon - blames himself. So a promotion is the last thing he expects. But Department Q is a department of one, and Carl’s got only a stack of cold cases for company. His colleagues snicker, but Carl may have the last laugh, because one file keeps nagging at him: A liberal politician vanished five years earlier and is presumed dead. But she isn’t dead...yet.

Great Story Despite the Weird Accents
Revisado: 05-28-13
I almost didn't get this book due to the negative reviews about the accents. I admit they were a bit weird at first but I would hate for anyone to miss this great story due to the bad reviews. I got used to the accents though I don't know why they made that choice. The author has a great writing style which translates well into English. I actually liked it better in some ways than the "Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" series. A bit less preachy and better characterizations.

Historia
Janis Ian was catapulted into the spotlight in 1966 at the age of 15, when her soul-wrenching song "Society's Child" became a hit. But this was only the beginning of a long and illustrious career. In Society's Child, Janis Ian provides a relentlessly honest account of the successes and failures - and the hopes and dreams - of an extraordinary life.

Amazing & Inspirational
Revisado: 04-25-13
Janet Ian is a truly amazing person. Her talent as a signer, guitarist and song writer is obvious by her music but she's also a great writer. The road to success and back again is inspirational, even to those of us who lack musical talent. I especially liked how she blended her songs into the book, something I've found lacking in other biographies about musicians. She definitely deserved the Grammy for this performance!

Two sisters. Two voices. One Heart.
The mystery of "Magic Man." The wicked riff of "Barracuda." The sadness and beauty of "Alone." The raw energy of "Crazy On You." These songs, and so many more, are part of the fabric of American music. Heart, fronted by Ann and Nancy Wilson, has given fans everywhere classic, raw, and pure badass rock and roll for more than three decades. As the only sisters in rock who write their own music and play their own instruments, Ann and Nancy have always stood apart - certainly from their male counterparts but also from their female peers.

Fantastic Story on Heart & Women in Rock
Revisado: 01-02-13
A fantastic insight into the Wilson sisters rise to fame & how they survived the fame to become true artists. They paved the way for women in rock & have the scars to prove it.
