Not based on conjecture or personal like or dislike of TJ, but on original source material. Consideration given to who wrote the material as well - a friend, or a political or clerical enemy? All quotes considered in context, as everything should be. I learned a lot. sgb

Historia
William Tyndale lived a life of adventure and danger, dodging the king's men, fleeing from his enemies, and meeting with smugglers in the dead of night. What brought a well-educated young English man to such a state? Was he an outlaw? Was he a thief? No - he was a Bible smuggler and a brave one at that.

Revisado: 03-12-24
Written for older children, but I learned a lot about Tyndale and the Church as it was in the midst of Reformation. Got to know Henry VIII, Sir Thomas Moore, and Thomas Cromwell also.

Rosie was always told her red hair was a curse, but she never believed it. She often dreamed what it would look like under a white veil with the man of her dreams by her side. However, her life takes a harrowing turn in 1944 when she is forced out of her home and sent to the most gruesome of places: Auschwitz. Upon arrival, Rosie’s head is shaved and along with the loss of her beautiful hair, she loses the life she once cherished.

We Must Never Forget
Revisado: 08-21-23
Experience the horrors of Auschwitz with Rosie and her sister - hard to process, but a must listen, as antisemitism is inexplicably on the rise again. Rosie's determination to survive and to not give up on God are inspirational.
Others have commented on the narrator's voice, which can be shrill at times during her dramatic reading, but easily dealt with by lowering the volume temporarily. This should not be a deterance to listening to this well-written, true story. Compared to what Rosie and other survivors endured during the Holocaust, it is a less than trivial complaint.

When I read the books wasn’t sure I liked them as well as the other Magiford series
BUT Kira Fixx did an amazing job and brought so much depth to the main character. Five stars

Historia
Among the first seven scrolls discovered in the caves of Qumran at the Dead Sea is a scroll given the name "The Book of Giants". It is thought to have been based on the Book of Enoch, a pseudepigraphical Jewish work from the third century BCE. The Book of Giants, like the Book of Enoch, concerns itself with the Nephilim, which are the offspring of fallen angels, who are called the Watchers. Two main versions of the text exist. The Dead Sea version is written in Aramaic.

Improvements made in audio
Revisado: 06-26-23
The "Codex Corrupted" has been replaced with pauses. Several reviewers seem to think that the narrator just "can't get a sentence out". Very unfair since this was done intentionally and the reason explained (for accuracy). The reason for the echo at the Chapter intros is not given, but I think it was to add a note of mysteriousness to the reading. The content does deal with very mysterious things! I found the content very interesting.

Homosexuality is one of the most hotly debated topics in the evangelical church today. In Two Views on Homosexuality, the Bible, and the Church four contributors, two defending a traditional view and two defending an affirming view, address not only biblical and theological questions, but also the pressing pastoral questions for the church.

Not Easy to Follow the Arguments on Audio
Revisado: 05-30-23
Not easy to follow these academic debates and language on audio. As in most academic papers, too many words were used, when the positions could have been stated much more succinctly.
I didn't care for the male narrator's tone, and even less so the female narrator's.

With passion and purpose, Greg Laurie and Ellen Vaughn tell the amazing true story of the Jesus Movement, an extraordinary time of mass revival, renewal, and reconciliation. Setting fascinating personal stories within the context of one of the most tumultuous times in modern history, the authors draw important parallels with our own time of spiritual apathy or outright hostility, offering hope for the next generation of unlikely believers - and for the next great American revival.

Historia
It was a devastating triple punch. Capping their four-year campaign to destroy the Trump presidency, the media portrayed a Democratic victory as necessary and inevitable. Big Tech, wielding unprecedented powers, vaporized dissent and erased damning reports about the Biden family’s corruption. Rigged is the definitive account of the 2020 election. Based on Mollie Hemingway’s exclusive interviews with campaign officials, reporters, Supreme Court justices, and President Trump himself, it exposes the fraud and cynicism behind the Democrats’ historic power grab.

Well Researched
Revisado: 01-29-23
The author did an admirable job putting together a plethora of information in a coherent presentation. The narrator's voice had a snide tone to it, which made it difficult to listen to until I adjusted to it. There were also some random pauses, perhaps where the audio was spliced together.

Good Insight into the Ancient World
Revisado: 10-15-22
Hard to understand parts of the Hebrew Bible are put into perspective by looking at them in the context of the culture at the time.
The numerous scriptural references are distracting, but necessary.
The author seems to believe that the New Covenant has replaced the Torah laws of the Hebrew Bible, with which I do not agree (hence the 4 stars). Some laws are not currently applicable, or are applicable only to some, but they have not been *replaced*. Otherwise, the book is an insightful study.
