Can't get enough!
Revisado: 04-08-23
I have read two books from the Admiral this weekend alone. You feel the authenticity and trust the leadership wisdom he gives. There is no self aggrandizing, there simple humility and strength.
A few hours well spent.

Historia
Ralph Elllison's Invisible Man is a monumental novel, one that can well be called an epic of modern American Negro life. It is a strange story, in which many extraordinary things happen, some of them shocking and brutal, some of them pitiful and touching—yet always with elements of comedy and irony and burlesque that appear in unexpected places. It is a book that has a great deal to say and which is destined to have a great deal said about it.

Joe Morton is Astounding
Revisado: 06-09-22
I have never heard an Audible book so well read. Morton is an absolute GENIUS. He made every chacter come to life in ways I wouldn't have believed possible. it was flawlessly read.
I found myself marveling at his presentation so much I missed several parts of the story and had to go back and listen again.
it's worth buying just to hear Joe Morton tell the story.

Great material but book in hand - better option
Revisado: 01-13-22
I love the Heaths (and Starr's) stuff and was really excited about getting this book. Downloaded it immediately and started it. I stayed engaged til about half way, then it became overwhelming to listen to without seeing.
Funny, some of the principles from the book apply just as directly to reading it over listening to it (at least for me). Others may have found the audible incredible. I'm just one voice but I would have preferred having it in hand.

Good but at times too much
Revisado: 07-12-20
I found myself looking for a lit more simplicity. it seemed like everytime I got ready to settle in to a teaching up jumped another multi-point process to master.
I ended up saying in my head for the last 1/3 of the book " this feels too complicated and overwhelming ".
I liked the story but maybe I'm just not ready for all the rights and responsibilities of the 5am club.

A Must Listen
Revisado: 03-16-20
I loved this book. I was compelled to hear Chanel's story to understand the substantive part of the story. The media sensationalizes so much of what we see. The headlines grab and suck you into a story but they really don't provide substance. They want to excite and draw you into their coverage. It's sad because what gets lost in the sauce is the "rest of the story" that Chanel tells.
I appreciated her emotive reading of the book. I am sure in some ways it was cathartic to write and read but I can also see it had to be HARD.
Parents, prepare to have your eyes opened and a pressing desire to have conversations with your sons and daughters (and their friends).
I hope this doesn't just make us aware and social justice warriors . I hope we see the need for for systemic change around what we accept as normalized behavior in high schools, colleges, courthouses and corporate news organizations.
