The beloved author of The Hundred-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out of the Window and Disappeared returns with an enchanting adventure that skewers the greed and hypocrisy that dominates our time and holds lessons about what’s truly important in life.

Another laugh-out-loud listen from Jonas Jonasson
Revisado: 01-13-24
sweet, sweet revenge ltd. serves up revenge without breaking the law. The story brings together an ad-man, a Masaai warrior, his Swedish "son", an art archivist, and an evil-doer in the way that only Jonas Jonasson can... through a convoluted set of circumstances that made me laugh at just how silly they were.
What a great listen!

Historia
After nearly drowning, eight-year-old Maeve Wilhelm falls into a strange comatose state. As years pass, it becomes clear that Maeve is not physically aging. A wide cast of characters finds themselves pulled toward Maeve, each believing that her mysterious “sleep” holds the answers to their life’s most pressing questions: Kevin Marks, a museum owner obsessed with preservation; Monique Gray, a refugee and performance artist; Lionel Wilhelm, an entomologist who dreamed of being an astrophysicist; and Evangeline Wilhelm, Maeve’s identical twin.

Excellent story & narration
Revisado: 09-17-23
Good character development, engaging narration, and a great weaving together of non-linear stories of people whose lives are related in different ways to a young girl who falls into a years-long coma.

Historia
Bob Johansson didn't believe in an afterlife, so waking up after being killed in a car accident was a shock. To add to the surprise, he is now a sentient computer and the controlling intelligence for a Von Neumann probe. Bob and his copies have been spreading out from Earth for 40 years now, looking for habitable planets. But that's the only part of the plan that's still in one piece.

Repetitive Story
Revisado: 03-21-23
The first book in the series was interesting with decent character development and an interesting plot, and had just started getting a little repetitive when it ended.
While there was a plot addition in this book, it wasn’t enough to offset the repetition of the other plot elements and lack of character development. Instead, Ray Porter’s voice lulled me to sleep, as the story itself was not engaging enough to keep me awake.

Historia
After a bad breakup, Nola wants nothing to do with Christmas, especially in her quaint hometown of Bright Harbor, Maine. Infuriatingly charming and cheery, Nola’s surroundings only worsen her sour mood. To make matters worse, Caleb, the boy who broke her heart years ago, is all grown up and still living in town. While doing her best to avoid him, Nola bumps into the local mailman, who gives her a mysterious letter. And when she finds that the writer is a fellow Scrooge, she can’t help but feel her spirit lifting.

Cute, trite holiday story
Revisado: 01-29-23
This was the type of book you can half-listen to and you’ll get the story line. It was a cute but trite story.
The narrator was pretty good, but had a slightly slow pace and slightly flat affect at times that were noticeable and distracting.

Historia
Jazz Bashara is a criminal. Well, sort of. Life on Artemis, the first and only city on the moon, is tough if you're not a rich tourist or an eccentric billionaire. So smuggling in the occasional harmless bit of contraband barely counts, right? Not when you've got debts to pay and your job as a porter barely covers the rent. Everything changes when Jazz sees the chance to commit the perfect crime, with a reward too lucrative to turn down.

Not just a heist story
Revisado: 01-28-23
I am usually not interested in heist stories but this just a heist story. Andy Weir’s first person narrative style and the science elements woven into it make it more interesting than a typical heist. It was a fun listen!

Historia
After a long and eventful life, Allan Karlsson ends up in a nursing home, believing it to be his last stop. The only problem is that he's still in good health, and in one day, he turns 100. A big celebration is in the works, but Allan really isn't interested (and he'd like a bit more control over his vodka consumption). So he decides to escape. He climbs out the window in his slippers and embarks on a hilarious and entirely unexpected journey, involving, among other surprises, a suitcase stuffed with cash.

Laugh out loud tale of a lifetime of adventures
Revisado: 05-29-22
The adventure starts with a centenarian climbing out a window of his nursing home in his dress clothes and “pee slippers” to escape his own birthday party and gets more and more ridiculous as the story unfolds. The interweaving of the centenarian’s present adventure with his unintentional encounters with world leaders in his past provides great entertainment and plenty of laughs.
A well-narrated tale of unlikely, laugh-out-loud ridiculous adventures over a 100-year span.
