Historia
Set in boisterous, rebellious Boston on the eve of the American Revolution, Blindspot ingeniously weaves together the fictional stories of Stewart Jameson, a Scottish portrait painter and notorious libertine, and Fanny Easton, a fallen woman from one of Boston's most powerful families who disguises herself as a boy to become Jameson's defiant and seductive apprentice. Together with an African-born doctor, they investigate the death of the famous revolutionary leader Samuel Bradstreet.

It took a little bit for me to get into, but...
Revisado: 08-15-21
SPOILER ALERT: It took a little bit for me to get into, but I eventually did and then found it worth it. I will say that I found out disturbing how much Jameson was into Weston when he thought he was a 16yr old boy. I just couldn't wrap my head around it. Cassandra Campbell does a great job though. I thought she was better in this book than she was in My Dear Hamilton. I found it hard to get into John Lee as Jameson though. I'm not sure why. I thought he did a good job as every other character, but the main one. Maybe not enough emotion in his voice for what seemed such an emotional character. Overall, it was worth the read/listen.

Fake news, or so I thought...
Revisado: 07-11-21
This story was so good that I thought it couldn't be real. So I listened to the entire book until I found it was someone's actual life. I know party is fiction, but I truly enjoyed the story.

Historia
A global movement guided by love. Humans are a varied and divergent bunch with all manner of beliefs, morals, and bodies. Systems of oppression thrive off our inability to make peace with difference and injure the relationship we have with our own bodies. The Body Is Not an Apology offers radical self-love as the balm to heal the wounds inflicted by these violent systems. World-renowned activist and poet Sonya Renee Taylor invites us to reconnect with the radical origins of our minds and bodies and celebrate our collective, enduring strength.

Not everyone's cup of tea...
Revisado: 07-21-20
Sonya has a beautiful message, but she intertwines it with obvious political opinions. The message is awesome, but I kept feeling like she was trying to steer my political views rather than my body image views. I love all people of all colors, genders, and walks of life. I don't need Sonya to chastise me into feeling that way, but sometimes I did feel like that was her purpose. I think if you want to write a book about self-love, then you really must write a book for all people, including those who may not have the same political views as you. If you want to write a book about liberal view and why we should think that way, then the title and narrative should convey this instead.

Historia
The modern audience hasn't had a chance to truly appreciate the unknowing dread that readers would have felt when reading Bram Stoker's original 1897 manuscript. Most modern productions employ campiness or sound effects to try to bring back that gothic tension, but we've tried something different. By returning to Stoker's original storytelling structure - a series of letters and journal entries voiced by Jonathan Harker, Dr. Van Helsing, and other characters - with an all-star cast of narrators, we've sought to recapture its originally intended horror and power.

Performance was excellent...
Revisado: 07-03-20
The performance really made the book better for me. I always wished Stoker developed his characters personalities a bit more. But the actors definitely give them more depth.
