Historia
The devastation of Pearl Harbor and the American victory at Midway were prelude to a greater challenge: rolling back the vast Japanese Pacific empire island by island. This masterful history encompasses the heart of the Pacific War - the period between mid-1942 and mid-1944 - when parallel Allied counteroffensives north and south of the equator washed over Japan's far-flung island empire like a "conquering tide", concluding with Japan's irreversible strategic defeat in the Marianas.

worth the time investment
Revisado: 10-19-24
The narrative was compelling and contained enough details to keep me interested. I am astounded by the breadth of sources the author relied on.

I didn’t read closely before I bought this. I’m glad I didn’t read but just bought and listened. It was very enjoyable.

Historia
Violence in the Old Testament has long been a stumbling block for Christians and skeptics alike. God Is a Man of War offers a fresh interpretation of Old Testament accounts of violence, by exploring them through the twofold lens of Orthodox tradition and historical context. Father Stephen De Young examines what these difficult passages reveal about the nature of Christ and His creation, bearing witness to a world filled not only with pain and suffering - often of human making - but also with the love of God.

Citations are distracting.
Revisado: 04-17-23
It’s not a bad book but all the citations are distracting. It is not uncommon in this book to have a short sentence followed by 3 or 4 scripture citations. It would have been better, I think to have quoted the verses and explain how they support the sentence.

Revisado: 02-10-17
Would you try another book from The Great Courses and Bart D. Ehrman and/or Professor Bart D. Ehrman?
Whole lecture series is based on out of date information. Very disappointing.
Would you ever listen to anything by The Great Courses and Bart D. Ehrman again?
Yes. Except for this title I've enjoyed everything from The Great Courses.
