Not good for an audio book
Revisado: 03-27-25
I liked the main story and writing, but there are too many countries and characters to keep straight without a map and to see it all in writing. I think I would have liked it better if I had read it and, as I said before, there was a map to refer to.

Historia
It is said that the Neverseen King comes for a bride every hundred years. I thought it was only legend—until he came for me. I am one of twelve assassins forced to compete for the hand of our unseen king, who I'm beginning to doubt is even human at all. Why he needs a bride, much less one who wields a blade isn't any of my business. All I'm trying to do is get out of here with my life and my heart intact. I don't want to care about the mysteries I begin uncovering about the king, about why he never shows his face, about his palace that turns into a nightmare after dusk.

Too much inner dialogue
Revisado: 03-01-25
Liked the plot, but way way way too much inner dialogue!! Also, the main character complains when she’s not getting attention, but pushes the king away when he gives it to her. Super annoying.

Historical Fiction at its best
Revisado: 09-01-24
Loved the story of Deborah Samson and that it was based on a real person. The narrator did a fabulous job with all the voices. Would recommend this to anyone who enjoys historical fiction. Especially the Revolutionary War era.

Historia
Dr. Briana Ortiz’s life is seriously flatlining. Her divorce is just about finalized, her brother’s running out of time to find a kidney donor, and that promotion she wants? Oh, that’s probably going to the new man-doctor who’s already registering eighty-friggin’-seven on Briana’s “pain in my ass” scale. But just when all systems are set to hate, Dr. Jacob Maddox completely flips the game . . . by sending Briana a letter. And it’s a really good letter. Like the kind that proves that Jacob isn’t actually Satan.

Love Real Human Romances
Revisado: 07-22-24
I have recently become a big Abbey Jimenez fan. I love that her characters are human and have baggage and can rise above their issues. I love her humor. Jacob is the sweetest person on the planet and I wish he weren’t fictional! This is a sweet story, and being an introvert myself, I can totally relate to it. My only dislike is that in most rom-coms and romances there is so much assumption about what the other people are thinking, that it gets very frustrating for me. That being said, I can’t wait to start the next book by this author!

Good plot. Awful heroine
Revisado: 09-12-20
Loved the idea of this book, but I wanted to punch the female lead in the face! She is full of contradictions and never learns her lesson. Some of lines are pretty cheesy as well. Wish I could tolerate her enough to listen to the next book to find out what happens, because, of course, nothing resolves itself at “the end”. Also, if your not a fan of gratuitous sex scenes beware!
