Historia
Thumbing across the scorched West Texas desert, loner Jack Reacher has nowhere to go and all the time in the world to get there. Cruising the same stretch of two-lane blacktop is pretty Carmen Greer. But for Reacher, the lift comes with a hitch. Carmen's got a story to tell, and it's a wild one. All about her husband, her family secrets, and a hometown that's pure Gothic. She's also got a plan. Jack Reacher's part of it. And before the sun sets, this ride could cost them both their lives.

Exaggerated social justice commentary
Revisado: 09-28-21
I couldn't finish this audio book due to the nauseating social justice narrative. I usually enjoy the series but this book was the authors exaggerated attempt to vilify white people. The liberties taken regarding the Border Patrol and the fabricated story of hunting and gunning down illegal immigrants like a sport was disgusting. The entire book is slanted as "every white person in Texas aims to oppress and kill illegal immigrants". Being a Mexican American living in Texas I can attest that this book is a perverted lie.
Feels like the author is just cashing in a political narrative and I find it repulsive to the point, to the point of stirring the pot of division in our country.

Historia
US Navy Seal Lieutenant Tom Norris, on three separate occasions over a four-day period, with no sleep, went behind enemy lines to rescue two downed air force pilots. Using stealth tactics, he was able to get though or around hundreds of North Vietnamese to rescue one pilot. The second pilot - hungry, thirsty, and having lost 40 pounds - was disoriented and unable to help in his rescue. Norris, with the help of one Vietnamese Seal, was able to safely bring the pilot back inside US lines.

Historia
Raw, straightforward, and powerful, Ed Kugler's account of his two years as a Marine scout-sniper in Vietnam vividly captures his experiences there - the good, the bad, and the ugly. After enlisting in the Marines at 17, then being wounded in Santo Domingo during the Dominican crisis, Kugler arrived in Vietnam in early 1966. As a new sniper with the 4th Marines, Kugler picked up bush skills while attached to 3d Force Recon Company, and then joined the grunts.

A decent book
Revisado: 06-04-21
If I hadn't researched the author, I'd be hard pressed to believe that he was a Marine. The lack of Marine jargon and inaccuracies just make for a mediocre read. For a sniper, the author uses almost no technical detail. Read any book by Gary Linderer or Carlos Hathcock, and you will see the glaring differences between this author and the aforementioned authors.
He mentions relinquishing a 10lb Thompson sub machine gun to carry the "lighter" M14 battle rifle, 😂. The M14 is a pound heavier than the Thompson. He talks about gripping the trigger, and at one point mentions that he dropped his Winchester sniper rifle hard on the ground and remarks "so much for the scope being sighted in"!!! Your sniper rifle is a precision tool in the field, the difference between life and death and he nonchalantly acts like it's no big deal. All in all, I won't take in another book by the author.

An eye opening truth
Revisado: 05-30-21
Cowards sleep soundly at night in the United States, because of these men, men who perform the necessary violence of war. Most were not willing volunteers but drafted youth, pulled from the safety and comfort of their nation, to fight a war for the ungrateful South Vietnamese.
This book is a phenomenal yet saddening look at the horrors of war.
