Poor recording
Revisado: 04-29-25
I love the Campion stories especially this one but this recording was difficult to understand. Maybe it’s me but I had to keep backtracking to try and understand the words. Finally went back to my print copy and returned the book

Historia
Meet Laszlo, eight-hundred-year-old demon and Hell’s least productive Curse Keeper. From his office beneath Midtown, he oversees the Drakeford Curse, which involves a pathetic family upstate and a mysterious black monolith. It’s a sexy enough assignment—colonial origins, mutating victims, et cetera—but Laszlo has no interest in maximizing the curse’s potential; he’d rather sunbathe in Ibiza, quaff martinis, and hustle the hustlers on Manhattan’s subway.

Escapism at it’s best
Revisado: 04-01-25
A delightful diversion from a dreary spring and an uncertain world. It’s funny, the characters are interesting and likeable, there are enough twists and turns to hold one’s interest and it is well read. I hope there will be a sequel.

Frustrating
Revisado: 03-29-25
The narrators might as well be robots, they read on and on without expression. I usually enjoy rehearing these old classics but not in this case. There are no titles and each book is presented in individual chapters rather than the complete book. You can, with patience, identify each book by scrolling through the PDF……since there are over 300 chapters it’ takes a bit of time. You can also locate the individual titles by looking for the 5 or 6 second chapters…….they seem to mark the beginning of a new story. When I skipped to the second reader I realized the performance was not going to improve so gave up on it, there are far better versions of these loved stories

Tequila Key is just like any other small town, and I'm just like any other small town psychic. Scratch that. Tequila Key is a world onto itself and some people might think that I am one crayon short of the box. And, if we're being totally honest, Tequila Key is just like any other small town - if that town boasts a voodoo priestess and a few white witches for flavor. Turquoise blue water and the best margaritas this side of Mexico make it hard to leave.

Not much mystery
Revisado: 01-27-25
The main character is so involved with fussing over her body image and her crushes on the two good looking male characters that the mystery is lost.

Interesting premise, more mature sleuth with little or none of the cuteness of the usual cosy mystery. Looking forward to more books in the series

It’s overlong even taking into account the slow, whispering narration. Even speeding it up didn’t help. If you are a fan of this series I would recommend buying the book

Historia
Two years into World War II, Britain is feeling her losses: The Nazis have won battles, the Blitz has destroyed cities, and U-boats have cut off the supply of food. In an effort to help housewives with food rationing, a BBC radio program called The Kitchen Front is holding a cooking contest - and the grand prize is a job as the program’s first-ever female co-host. For four very different women, winning the competition would present a crucial chance to change their lives.

Fictionalized account of four very different women dealing with food rationing in Great Britain during WW2. The characters are varied and likable, the book seems well researched and I enjoyed the performance.

Fiona, Sue, and Daisy, three retired ladies who volunteer at the local charity shop, Dogs Need Nice Homes, can’t believe their favorite customer is dead. Eighty-six-year-old Sarah Brown was found murdered in her hallway by her delivery man, a domino clutched in her hand—with a name scratched on it. When another person is found dead with a domino in their hand, and with the police making no progress, the ladies will need to help unmask a serial killer. At least they have Fiona’s scruffy-haired terrier cross to assist them.

Thought I’d start a new series but this was a disappointment. Great narration but even for the genre so far overdone as to be annoying and then tedious
