Historia
Strictly off limits to the public, Plum Island is home to virginal beaches, cliffs, forests, ponds - and the deadliest germs that have ever roamed the planet. Lab 257 blows the lid off the stunning true nature and checkered history of Plum Island. It shows that the seemingly bucolic island in the shadow of New York City is a ticking biological time bomb that none of us can safely ignore.

He lays bare the flaws of the Soviet nuclear industry....

Repetitive

Very interesting story, but so repetitive that it was a struggle to get through. It could have hours shorter if an editor had done a more thorough job.

Historia
After President Woodrow Wilson suffered a paralyzing stroke in the fall of 1919, his wife, First Lady Edith Wilson, began to handle the day-to-day responsibilities of the chief executive. Mrs. Wilson had had little formal education and had only been married to President Wilson for four years, yet in the tenuous peace following the end of World War I, she dedicated herself to managing the office of the president, reading all correspondence intended for her bedridden husband.

confusing

the way the author bounced around with timelines and references of people outside the story, made this book confusing. The conversations in first person seemed made up.

Throughout that struggle, the brothers shared everything - swapping stories of lovers and friends, successes and disappointments, dreams and ambitions.

hard to get through
Revisado: 07-25-17
The material was interesting and informative, but listening to the presenter was painful. Please use professionals to present these types of books. He must have have been sitting too close to mic because you could hear him suck in his spit; you could hear when is mouth got dry; etc. It would have driven me crazy to listen to him in a classroom , forget about one on one as he was amplified through my car speakers.

Historia
A Vermeer painting shows a military officer in a Dutch sitting room, talking to a laughing girl. In another canvas, fruit spills from a blue-and-white porcelain bowl. Familiar images that captivate us with their beauty--but as Timothy Brook shows us, these intimate pictures actually give us a remarkable view of an expanding world.

interesting, but...
Revisado: 06-28-17
Maybe I read discription incorrectly. In some chapters his "doors" were far from close..the author probably should have stuck with Vermeer's work and have not tried so hard to expound on every subject related to the 17th century.

Historia
A Bridge Too Far is Cornelius Ryan’s masterly chronicle of the Battle of Arnhem, which marshaled the greatest armada of troop-carrying aircraft ever assembled and cost the Allies nearly twice as many casualties as D-day. In this compelling work of history, Ryan narrates the Allied effort to end the war in Europe in 1944 by dropping the combined airborne forces of the American and British armies behind German lines to capture the crucial bridge across the Rhine at Arnhem. Focusing on a vast cast of characters, Ryan brings to life one of the most ill-fated operations of the war.
