I didn't expect to like this book because I thought it may follow predictably annoying plot lines. But even though they end up in the end just as you want and expect - the journey was enjoyable. :) I love a good self aware heroine with a strong and tough man love that doesn't take his 'love' too far in the possessive or corny corners. They were well thought out characters and the plot has a lot in it that all ties up neatly at the end. Great listen :)

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

YES! This is a real story! I have been in a funk, totally sick of romance novels because so many are vapid and ridiculous! BUT THIS ONE!!! It gives me the feels AND is a real story!!! I LOVE THIS AUTHOR!!!

What was one of the most memorable moments of Six of Hearts?

I'm haven't finished the book yet - but so far - just any moment between Jay and Matilda :)

Have you listened to any of Donna Kelly’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No, but I LOVE her narration. I saw heaps of complaints before getting this book, but I have no idea what they're talking about. The narration is awesome. I'm Australian though, so maybe that's why - I'm not too finicky about American accents - but even so - I can't see the problem everyone is pointing to - the narrator is great :)

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

YES - no sleep tonight!!!

Any additional comments?

I love finding great new authors!!! GET MORE BOOKS ON AUDIBLE COSWAY!!!!! (I found you via Penny Reid - and am soooo thankful!!!)

Would you consider the audio edition of Country Heaven to be better than the print version?

I didn't read the print ;)

What other book might you compare Country Heaven to and why?

Other intelligently written romance novels...none that I can think of right now.

What does Em Eldridge bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Her voice just allows me to disappear into the story. I don't even remember what she sounds like, and I love it when great authors pair with a great voice.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Yes, I did both. But I also did admittedly cringe at some of the more 'corny' things that seemed a little off character at times. Never frequently enough to take me out of it, but it did happen a couple of times.

Any additional comments?

Ava Miles audiobooks are so addictive. The building of the community and world you are entering when going through series novels she writes, makes you feel that you want to live in the book - which doesn't happen as often as I'd like when I try new authors. So I am always looking for new books from this author because she is a bit of a gem.

What disappointed you about Tyler's Undoing?

Okay...I don't even know where to start...
* Everyone automatically liking the heroine because they could just tell she was, like, totes amazeballs or something.
* What a martyr!! The lack of character depth regarding the death of the grandma and the spreading of the ashes - it left me feeling like the author thought of plot points, and followed that instead of allowing the story to have any sort of reality to it - WAS ANNOYING AS, like, anything!
* Slut-shaming your character's best friend - is immature and does not make me like the heroine of your story AT ALL.
* Tyler was not actually a great DUDE at all. He was an ass, that turned into a saint because the author said so.
* The possessiveness on both sides of the 'relationship' was too high school.
There was sooo much more, and I couldn't finish.

What was most disappointing about L.P. Dover’s story?

It was just a bunch of poorly collaged plot points jumbled together. The way they spoke to each other, and the lack of real development in the story made me cringe way too much to enjoy. So sorry to the author personally for leaving a bad review - but I just wanted a great listen and this just wasn't it for me. More maturity is needed for me to connect I think...

Would you be willing to try another one of Lauren Sweet’s performances?

Depends whether she put on those voices because she interpreted the characters the way the writer meant them to be interpreted, or if they were voices she wanted to do because - holy crarp the whine in the voices, and the petty-sounding characters made me cringe.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Embarrassed for the perspective of a juvenile pretending to be an adult.

Would you consider the audio edition of Neanderthal Seeks Human to be better than the print version?

N/A

What did you like best about this story?

So many things...It is so intelligently written, the characters so real, the flow so interesting; I felt in love with the people and the way the story was told...I will be following this author. I need a good strong heroine that is realistic in both her thoughts and actions. It felt like the author really knew these characters because they were too real and in depth not to be real. My thoughts are a jumble in explaining the A++ mark I'm giving this book - but if you have read it, I'm sure you'll get my drift ;)

Which scene was your favorite?

Can't say.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

It regularly moved me...

If you could sum up Girl Walks into a Bar... in three words, what would they be?

Funny. Humbling. Interesting.

Who was your favorite character and why?

uh...Rachel...

Which character – as performed by Rachel Dratch – was your favorite?

The hideously obese alien lesbian - bwaahaaa!!!!

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

...

Any additional comments?

I'm Australian and apart from the snippets i've seen on youtube recently, I haven't had much exposure to SNL - so choosing this unknown autobiography was a gamble and I was trusting the positive feedback - which I am happy I did. I enjoyed this more than I expected and she is seriously hilarious. I look forward to hearing about her more in the future :)

What did you like best about The Alpha's Mate? What did you like least?

It was a story I could enjoy with characters and a premise I liked.
Least? Probably the narration and the lack of emotion I felt.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

The people and premise...the least interesting was lack of dimension...

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Leah Frederick?

I have no idea - and I am not against listening to her voice - I would happily listen to her voice in a bio or anything appropriate of her tone. But I felt like she was a sarcastic newsreader of a comedy show that was taking a really long time to get to the punchline. She has the 'go-to' tone of Amy Poehler and Tina Fey when they're being sarcastic about what they're saying - and it completely distracted me from the story - I couldn't even tune out the tone and continue - it was always there.
If I heard her read the Tina Fey bio for example, she probably would have been super funny...but not this genre...sorry.

Did The Alpha's Mate inspire you to do anything?

Nope, sorry. I like him well enough though...but that was about it.

Any additional comments?

Hasn't turned me off the author or the narrator though.

Where does Nora Roberts Land rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

lol, well it's up there :)

What was one of the most memorable moments of Nora Roberts Land?

The journey...

What about Em Eldridge’s performance did you like?

She helps you be absorbed in the book - the character voices were great. :)

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Not just a moment - but I enjoyed the journey.

Any additional comments?

I found this while searching for Nora Roberts books I haven't read...as I've read almost all - and took a chance - and am so glad that I did. I absolutely love the way this was written, the humour, reality and characters - the references to Nora Roberts characters - everything! This book was a gem that I'll definitely enjoy listening to again :)
I enjoy reading books that makes sense within the fiction itself, so I hope another audiobook by Ava Miles is coming soon... :) It would be handy if Audible.com alerted us of new releases from authors we like :)

Would you listen to Kiss a Girl in the Rain again? Why?

Probably

What did you like best about this story?

It felt real.

Which scene was your favorite?

The rain one probably...lol

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Not extreme, but I felt the appropriate emotional responses :)

Any additional comments?

I enjoyed the characters being both likeable and realistic. I don't like women 'needing' a man, but also enjoy a self aware couple who act like normal human beings would - so the author did brilliantly there. The characters were very well developed and the story wasn't dictated by a bunch of ideas, but instead, seems to flow like real life events do.
