I've read her books before and enjoyed them. This is confusing, weak and I was bored to tears. I'm a third of the way through and given up. Doesn't seem like the same author wrote this?

So boring
Revisado: 02-16-18
This is a long meandering love story with repetitive, mundane scenes scattered throughout. Pondwater moves faster than this. There was a smidgen of suspense at the very end. Otherwise, it was a tale of two very boring individuals who go about their mundane routines with some lil kids thrown in for good measure to up the sappiness level. I loved Mitch's story and that's why I bought this book but if you want to 30 sec skip through the middle section then buy this book.

Good book. Narrator did a decent job
Revisado: 01-30-18
Solid writing.
Sadly though, the female character was fairly stagnant. There was little transformation in her beliefs or relationship as the book went on. Also, her Snow White persona came off as a little corny at times. I know many veterans. The facility in the book only had non-military personnel preaching to veterans on how to heal - that wouldn't happen in reality. I get where the author is going with the 'earthing' - ground healing - science. But the female character didn't quite fit in the role - She seemed like a novice in her field. The villain also had too much going on. He's a spy, he's conveniently obsessed with the female character, He has mother issues, he has all this time on his hands to stand in the corn fields for hours. Some of the action seemed unrealistic.

Nikolai: I have been a contract killer since I was a boy. For years I savored the fear caused by my name, the trembling at the sight of my tattoos. If you saw my eyes, it was the last vision you'd have. With her I am the mark, and I am ready to lie down and let her capture me. Opening my small, scarred heart to her brings out my enemies. I will carry out one last hit, but if they hurt her I will bring the world down around their ears.

Historia
He lives by his heart. She lives by her plans. Until an unseen enemy and a growing attraction threaten control of both. Returning to his hometown in the Catskills is the last thing firefighter Ethan DeLuca's ready for. He'd rather leave memories where they belong - buried under ashes. Working at the camp down the road seems like the perfect solution. Until his feisty redheaded boss ends up being one fire he has no idea how to put out.

Just Okay.
Revisado: 01-02-18
The story is sweet but the characters and storyline are not solidly consistent. Writing is a little weak. For the first half of the book, Cassie is not very likeable. She is rude, overly dramatic and has the emotional intelligence of a child. Her past is rough but the way she acts, you would think she was raised in a closet by Russian mobsters. The obsession she has for having 'fun' is silly and immature. Big deal - we all have serious moments and life is hard at times. We don't run around like a tragic drama queen. Ethan is perceived as a little weak and non-alpha, much of the time. He's a good man but he doesn't come across as a firefighter. The back and forth thing between them initially seemed forced. The lawmakers in the town sound so incompetent, the make Gotham City seem capable. After a mysterious fire, there is no police presence or an arson investigation filed. Ethan turns to his cold mother for help. You would think he'd have a network of arson investigators and law enforcement friends who could help him protect the girls. The narrator is okay. Doesn't help much with the stilted writing. Still listening to the book. Just okay. Maybe the end will save it.

Historia
There are those moments in life that are provocative in their very existences, that embed in our minds forever, and, sometimes, our very souls. They change us, mold us, maybe even save us. But some are darker, dangerous. If we allow them to, they control us. Seduce us. Quite possibly even destroy us. The moment I walked into Sonoma's Reid Winter Winery and Vineyard and made eye contact with Faith Winter for the first time was one of those moments.

Halfway through and it's a yawn fest
Revisado: 12-15-17
God. I'm halfway through and... yawn. These two protagonists can yap. The characters try to hard be deep and philosophical yet the plot has little substance, The sex scenes drag out... the 'Tiger' loves the sound of his own voice. Not sure if i can listen to the rest. I'll be skipping a few chapters.

Narrators make or break it
Revisado: 12-11-17
The narrator is really challenging to listen to. A suggestion is not to hire elderly narrators to communicate younger characters in books. It never works. I felt like I'm listening to a scene out of the movie 'Cocoon'... Her accents are overdone and annoying to listen to. Once I can get past the Dorothy thing from the 'Golden Girls', the story seems to be shaping up to be okay. Still got 7hrs to go... Not sure if I can handle the narration.

Good Story. Wrong Narrator.
Revisado: 10-10-17
Sharon Sala always writes well with good character development. Unfortunately, the narrator sounds just like Blanche Devereaux from the 'Golden Girls'... Which is fine, until the characters sound 65 as opposed to 29 years old. The cover of the sexy man is certainly not reflected in the voice. He sounds like an old man - The female character is far worse.
I kept having to remind myself that these were young folk. LOL. The pace is also too fast. I thought I'd speeded it up - when first listening to it. Sounds as if its narrated by an elderly school teacher - sweet - but elderly. Ruined the vision for a normally good read.
