The Seelie and Unseelie Courts are at war. On one side: An obsessive-compulsive knight, a talking tree, and a really cute goblin girl named Golly. On the other: A "Dragon King", phooka assassins, and a mob of angry, bridge-blocking, trolls. Caught in the middle: A very confused, very lost teenage boy from Indiana. His name is Frotwoot Crossley. And he's about to find out that, somehow, that's not even the weirdest thing about him....

This is fun for younger listeners. The characters are both humanoid and various fantastical beings that engage in mythic adventures to thwart an evil foe. Narrator does a good job expressing the heightened emotions and action scenes.

Any additional comments?
Even for this campy genre the characters are flat and story uninspired. The romantic action is surprisingly tame. Considering the premise is paranormal mmf erotic endeavors involving tickling sci-fi toys, bondage swing and fertility based servitude it was disappointingly mild ("feminine mound" is about as anatomically explicit as it gets). BBW aspect is not discussed, or mentioned so briefly as to be irrelevant to the book notwithstanding mention in it's title. The overall story length could have been reduced by half without losing any plot points, as the protagonist internal monologue is so redundant.
All this considered Meghan Kelly narrates excellently. Her tone is playful and seems privy to the absurdity of this fantasy, without judgement. She does distinct voices for several characters without confusion. Despite the weakness of the author's work, it was great reading on her part.

Historia
The narrator of Atwood's riveting novel calls himself Snowman. When the story opens, he is sleeping in a tree, wearing an old bedsheet, mourning the loss of his beloved Oryx and his best friend Crake, and slowly starving to death. He searches for supplies in a wasteland where insects proliferate and pigoons and wolvogs ravage the pleeblands, where ordinary people once lived, and the Compounds that sheltered the extraordinary. As he tries to piece together what has taken place, the narrative shifts to decades earlier. How did everything fall apart so quickly?

It is about a dystopian GMO holocaust, and very well crafted story. The last human survivor of some sort of plague shares how things went wrong, with the strange humanoid creatures that now populate Earth. The narration is very good, Campbell Scott conveys the various swinging emotions of the main character. The odd cadence of the "Craker" speech was fun to hear as well

It's an absurd little story book but one I remember fondly from childhood, a different recording on cassette was my first ever audiobook! This one is good too, the weird tale holds up for kids today

Any additional comments?
This is audio of some interviews (a TV series) it is weird. I wish it was just the book instead (published later based on these discussions) but that does not exist. The subject is about hero myths, many insightful comparisons from various stories popular and historical by an expert. The format feels somewhat like a podcast though, and it also seems like there were visual components missed with the audiobook format

Historia
It is a tale of ghosts, of madness, of revenge - of old alliances giving way to new intrigues. Denmark is changing, shaking off its medieval past. War with Norway is on the horizon. And Hamlet - son of the old king, nephew of the new - becomes increasingly entangled in a web of deception - and murder. Beautifully performed by actor Richard Armitage ("Thorin Oakenshield" in the Hobbit films), Hamlet, Prince of Denmark takes Shakespeare’s original into unexpected realms, reinventing a story we thought we knew.

This is really great, I would highly recommend a listen! I have never read the Shakespeare play but have seen a few movie versions. Details of the story are explained in depth, also imagined to fill in the novel. The narration is perfect! Richard Armitage plays every single character with distinguished voices. I will definitely listen to this again and am excited to get the similar version of MacBeth

Not the stuffy classic I was expecting
Revisado: 09-10-15
What made the experience of listening to Heart of Darkness: A Signature Performance by Kenneth Branagh the most enjoyable?
I wasn't assigned to read this in school, but it was a good whispersync deal. Learning that the film "Apocalypse Now" was based on the story also inspired me to listen.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Kurtz is a mysterious and intriguing real big baddie. So much of the book examines him, though he is present in the story only a brief time
What about Kenneth Branagh’s performance did you like?
His voice acting displays many emotions as the tone of the story changes. It is easy to understand which characters speak. He is excellent!
