A totally engaging story.
Revisado: 07-26-24
I really enjoy anything read by Will. And so far all of the books by Scalzi I have listened too. This book flew by. Super story. Twists and turns. Humor and intrigue. So all over great novel. To the author. Thanks for making the characters interesting and anything but two dimensional. You have a great sense of nerd that I love. To the narrator. Thanks for your great work. Your voices and accents and your joy in the presentation. An inspiration for other narrators. Go ahead indulge in silliness, some Bond flair and nerd all in one.

Sweet story about families and loss
Revisado: 07-22-24
I really enjoyed this author’s first book and therefore signed up for #2. The story is a nice continuation of the original book. It is helpful to know the first book but not mandatory. The story weaves across Europe and emotions. Two journeys. Many positives. My only real negative is that the principal character is a bit too annoyingly smart with his remarks. Makes some of us gay readers feel a bit stereotyped. If there is a next book to the author please help the character mature and be a graceful older gay man.

Every bartender should follow one simple rule—don't go home with the customers. That’s been easy for me to stick to, until the night a cocky, confident, and sinfully charming hockey star walks into my bar. This sexy athlete is too hard to resist, especially when he makes it clear how much he wants the “sarcastic, witty, hot AF” guy behind the bar—also known as me.

Thou protest too much
Revisado: 06-20-24
Let’s start with the performers. They were super. Their pace and emotions were spot on. I will listen to the leads again for sure. It’s the story. I wanted to like this but in the end I found the character development was weak. The author spent too much time with the angst of “no relationship “ the characters barely got to be more than 2 dimensional. We get the boy meets boy etc. we didn’t need to go over and over the rules. I would like to have seen more time with the relationship. Chemistry is real but the. So is getting to know each other. In real life these two have a big hill to climb. I bet we could have shaved 30% with just a cut in the repeat of the drama. I will add that the conversations about why the characters were fearful did help to build their backstories.

Sit back. Listen to the facts. You will change
Revisado: 10-20-23
I was referred to this book by a friend. I was not sure about all the facts and figures. But then I appreciate Peter’s vocal style, must be the Ontarian in him. I learned valuable lessons in each chapter. I have also recommended this book to young and old. But no spoiler just the last chapter grabbed me. So much packed into 12 hours. It really was sad to say goodbye. Do yourself a favor read or even better listen.

A pleasure. The time flies.
Revisado: 05-22-23
I enjoyed this story. The style was so comfortable to listen to. The characters were well shaped, polite, respectful and in todays selfish and rude world, a respite. I would love to have manners come back in fashion. The wizard and his skills are not the highlight, it is really the story of two people and how sometimes things happen that make everyone a bit better. No sexy and dramatic, no cheap tricks, just an enjoyable story. And for the narrator! AMAZING. I could hear him read anything. The characters came to life and his pace was perfect for the story. I hope he gets the recognition for his work. Truly a master class in audio books.

Historia
Hilketa is a frenetic and violent pastime where players attack each other with swords and hammers. The main goal of the game: obtain your opponent's head and carry it through the goalposts. With flesh and bone bodies, a sport like this would be impossible. But all the players are "threeps", robot-like bodies controlled by people with Haden's Syndrome, so anything goes. No one gets hurt, but the brutality is real, and the crowds love it. Until a star athlete drops dead on the playing field.

Makes time fly!
Revisado: 08-12-19
The premise for the book is interesting and I was not sure about a sports book. However the sport is not the point. As always Wil makes the book enjoyable with his narration. Not the deepest of stories but a wonderful way to forget traffic and engage your brain. One comment, it seems audible has this book and a related novel mixed up. On completion of this book it said the next in the series was Head On the book I just listened to. Minor glitch.

An 80’s geek’s dream! A pleasure to experience
Revisado: 09-19-18
This book was wonderful and the performance by Mr Wheaton fantastic. The story was compelling but Will’s style made it come to life. If you love 80’s trivia and love sci-if and then maybe a bit of David and Goliath this is your dream read. Although the movie version was entertaining, the depth of the story was so much better told in this reading.

Revisado: 06-11-18
Mr. P story is a fun journey. We look at how the wild world of today in technology fits into the history of the human adventure. The characters are well formed and so enjoyable to spend time with. The narrator is the best I have listened to on Audible bar none. He makes the story come to life. Enjoy geeks and book worms. This is for you!

Historia
Why is America living in an age of profound economic inequality? Why, despite the desperate need to address climate change, have even modest environmental efforts been defeated again and again? Why have protections for employees been decimated? Why do hedge-fund billionaires pay a far lower tax rate than middle-class workers? The conventional answer is that a popular uprising against "big government" led to the rise of a broad-based conservative movement.

If you know a dog then....
Revisado: 02-06-17
You need to read/listen to this book. The author is clearly a dog lover and her insights about how dogs function is wonderful. I took some lessons from this book and used them with my dogs. I have given a couple of copies of this book to other dog owners as a nice way to give them additional understanding of their constant and loyal companion. It is wonderful that the author reads for us. She is not broadway trained but her heart comes through.
