Historia
The all-volunteer force that has served our country well for more than 50 years is at a critical inflection point. Today, recruiters are struggling to bring enough Zoomers into the armed services. Mismatched fundamental ideals, divergent beliefs about the workplace, and other sociocultural influences have contributed to the United States military scrambling to get a grasp on how to appeal to Gen Z.

It is a good subject, yet very boring
Revisado: 12-05-24
The Author voices his book at a snail's pace. I kept waiting for him to start saying, “Bueller? Bueller?” The subject is interesting, and he does make some good points, but I could not finish the book. I resorted to reading it!

Historia
After the explosive events surrounding MPF6's destruction on Karkin Four, Wic and his team of daredevil operators join forces with the rebel force known as the Blood Guard. While the Phantoms desire to help relocate human refugees to safer worlds, they're forced to confront a more pressing objective: cut off the head of the beast and keep the Androchidan Empire from enslaving another world. Wic is immediately flung into the heat of battle, driven by retaliation, a need for justice, and the need to send a message to all other deviant species who'd wish to take advantage of the innocent.

The previous books were narrated by R.C. Bray, the last two are not. It is like watching your favorite TV series and at the last season they replace all the main characters. I just couldn’t get into it.

As an overwhelming army of skeletons, wraiths, ghouls, and other dark creatures - all serving a powerful undead sorcerer - advance against Forward Operating Base Hawthorn, the Rangers must now do what they do best: Go on the extreme offense. PFC Talker, attached to the weapons team section of a Ranger recon patrol led by Captain Knife Hand, recounts the harrowing attempt to destabilize this surreal and horrific nightmare force with everything the snipers, master breachers, and stone-cold killers of the Ranger regiment have in their bag of lethal tricks.

Repetitive is how I sum it up.
Revisado: 11-17-22
The authors keep stopping during the critical times to talk about what happened in the past at basic or RASP or in Ranger history, so much so that it kills the momentum of the story. I just fast forward during these “moments”, which tend to happen a lot. By book 2 you know the Rangers are bad asses, so stop telling us that and concentrate on the now. Really liked the concept, but could not slog through another book. Don’t waste a credit. The narrator is really good.

His Denial
Revisado: 08-07-22
I bought the series up to this book. One third through and he still can’t wrap his mind around Aliens. Yet he had fought zombies and vampires. Every new adventure, repeats him denying the existence of whatever he is fighting, until that “aha moment”. Same plot line different creatures. You find yourself skipping chapters to avoid his boring self examination and his eventual acceptance of the Aliens. I just couldn’t take it anymore.

Stop when you get to Power Armor! Rip Off
Revisado: 12-28-21
I have always been a Sci-Fi military junkie. I enjoyed the book until I got to Chapter 20's and above, where it was obvious that they ripped off Robert Heinlein's Starship Troopers. Complete with Power Armor, HUD Display in helmets, Nukes on the suits, fighting large Spiders, only 1 Spider in a 100 had an energy weapon as opposed to Heinlein's 1 in 10. Calling them 'Troopers" instead of soldiers, which they had been called prior to the Power Armor and the saying "On the 'Bounce" directly from Starship Troopers. It ruined the rest of the book for me. I know Power Armor is not a Heinlein creation only. Lots of books I have read mentioned Power Armor, the difference is that not only did Mr. Anspach and Mr. Spears steal from Starship Troopers, but they also took his plot concerning the Giant Spiders.
If you are a Heinlein fan, then stop when you get to the Power Armor.

Historia
With his epic novels of alternate history, Harry Turtledove shares a stunning vision of what might have been - and what might still be - if one moment in history were changed. In the Worldwar and Colonization series, an ancient, highly advanced alien species found itself locked in a bitter struggle with a distant, rebellious planet: Earth. For those defending the Earth, this all-out war for survival supercharged human technology, made friends of foes, and turned allies into bitter enemies.

Dont waste your time and money.
Revisado: 07-13-21
I’m an avid Turtledove reader and really enjoyed the World War series, but the Colonization series was terrible. It is four books way too long, two would have done. He continually repeats himself to the point that it got really hard to pay attention. He is constantly reminding us of what a hero Sam Yeager is, or is not. Spoiler Alert - Sam Yeager would have been a bigger traitor then Benedict Arnold and Him and his family would have been Publicly tarred and feathered. Future generations would have tried to change their name, hating Sam Yeager for what he had done. Turtledove continues to remind us at every moment that our society sucks and the Race is better.

Battles rage from the Midwest to the Great Plains as militia factions form and political frustrations turn to violence. The UN peacekeepers are hailed as liberators in the Northeast but reviled as invaders in the Upper Midwest. Four nuclear armed powers wage war.

Where is our Intel?
Revisado: 12-20-20
I do enjoy this series, my only problem with it is the obvious lack of intelligence on the Mexican boarder. The Chinese would not be able to conceal any of their activities in Mexico.

Revisado: 11-26-17
Portrayal of Third Reich Germans was way off. Spoiler alert! He made the Germans out to be Russians with their inferior technology. The Germans were ahead of the US in almost everything. Then all of a sudden they stop and the US surpasses them! Wrong, with the defeat of Russia and England boxed up and the US not officially against them, the Germans would have dominated.
