Historia
Prue McKeel’s life is ordinary. At least until her brother is abducted by a murder of crows and taken to the Impassable Wilderness, a dense, tangled forest on the edge of Portland. No one’s ever gone in – or at least returned to tell of it. So begins an adventure that will take Prue and her friend, Curtis, deep into the Impassable Wilderness. There they uncover a secret world in the midst of violent upheaval - a world full of warring creatures, peaceable mystics, and powerful figures with the darkest intentions.

narrator reading it like an experimental exercise
Revisado: 04-30-25
The narrator's voice was so distracting. The way she speaks the dialogue for the little boy is especially horrific. I can't think of what she was thinking, except that her performance was more important than the book and narrative itself. she emphasized bizarre words. The closest thing I could think of is comparing it to the way people read poetry and poet voice, except it's a whole book that way in baby talk. the emphasis on words doesn't match what the word say. I listen to dozens of audiobooks, the last narrator I read I didn't love, but I could get over it. this is something that takes 65% of my patients to get through, and then I only get to listen with 35%. there's only one other audiobook whose narration that couldn't stand. Maybe more simply I could call this avant garde overacting.

Historia
Welcome to the not-too-distant future: Japan, having vanished from the face of the earth, is now remembered as "the land of sushi." Hiruko, its former citizen and a climate refugee herself, has a job teaching immigrant children in Denmark with her invented language Panska (Pan-Scandinavian): "homemade language. no country to stay in. three countries I experienced. insufficient space in brain. so made new language. homemade language."

Historia
The many lives of theoretical physicist Elsie Hannaway have finally caught up with her. By day, she’s an adjunct professor, toiling away at grading labs and teaching thermodynamics in the hopes of landing tenure. By other day, Elsie makes up for her non-existent paycheck by offering her services as a fake girlfriend, tapping into her expertly honed people-pleasing skills to embody whichever version of herself the client needs. Honestly, it’s a pretty sweet gig—until her carefully constructed Elsie-verse comes crashing down.

Historia
A landslide has closed the Korowai Pass on New Zealand’s South Island, cutting off the town of Thorndike and leaving a sizable farm abandoned. The disaster presents an opportunity for Birnam Wood, an undeclared, unregulated, sometimes-criminal, sometimes-philanthropic guerrilla gardening collective that plants crops wherever no one will notice. For years, the group has struggled to break even. To occupy the farm at Thorndike would mean a shot at solvency at last. But the enigmatic American billionaire Robert Lemoine also has an interest in the place.

Interesting but sorry if anguished plot

the mystery part of this book kept me listening, but the plot wasn't very pleasurable and the end of the books in gratuitous to me.

Historia
A mysterious island. An abandoned orphanage. A strange collection of very curious photographs. As our story opens, a horrific family tragedy sets 16-year-old Jacob journeying to a remote island off the coast of Wales, where he discovers the ruins of Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. As Jacob explores its abandoned bedrooms and hallways, it becomes clear that the children were more than just peculiar. They may have been dangerous. And somehow—impossible though it seems—they may still be alive.

Poor Narrator
Revisado: 11-12-18
We had just listened to him render all of Percy Jackson with maybe 5 voices he used for everything, and I was very done. Didn't even think he would be on this next one. His voice is nice, but he needs to practice accents. I mean. There's a line in the text about how awesome Welsh accents are, and they are, but then I feel like he didn't even listen to 100 Welsh people on YouTube at the least and try tot sound like them. He really sounded terrible. It didn't ruin it for me, because somehow, I find it less annoying than the Percy Jackson series in terms of narration, maybe the story is so complex. Still. I see they have a new narrator.

Historia
Since its original publication by Little, Brown and Company, in 1942, Edith Hamilton's Mythology has sold millions of copies throughout the world and established itself as a perennial best-seller in its various available formats. Mythology succeeds like no other audiobook in bringing to life for the modern listener the Greek, Roman, and Norse myths and legends that are the keystone of Western culture - the stories of gods and heroes that have inspired human creativity from antiquity to the present.
