An exciting audio drama with a wide cast of characters.
Revisado: 03-17-25
A very well made audio drama with a solid cast featuring some great and some ok performances. The story was a great continuation of the previous High Republic Phase 2 books featuring characters from all of them and a bunch of new ones. It had some good twists and reveals but overall I felt the story was stretched a bit thin considering it’s not very long and there’s a lot of characters to cover. Still I’m excited to see the consequences of this battle in the next two books.

A cute little story for kids
Revisado: 02-27-25
Probably the most Scooby Doo like Star Wars story I can remember with an early villain reveal much like the usual Mystery Inc story. Possibly too many characters for such a short story but George Mann does a fine job juggling all the perspectives. Good narration too.

Great performance, emotional but meh story
Revisado: 10-01-24
After the Steph’s Story book which got better as it went along, this book I quickly realized had a storyline that wasn’t quite as interesting. It acts as a decent sequel to the game True Colors and has a lot of similar themes involving family drama mixed with environmental activism. The political aspects felt unrealistic and the ultimate reveal was convoluted. The parts of the book that I really liked were the continuation of the relationship of Alex and Steph and wish that was more the focus of this book instead of small town politics. The narration by Erika Mori was excellent. She did a great job with both the character she originated, Alex Chen, but also everyone else. If you’re a LiS fan looking for new content before the new game this will fill that gap but not much more.

A very strong story following the start to the end of a relationship.
Revisado: 08-08-24
A very strong story following the start to the end of a relationship. This prequel novel to Life is Strange True Colors does an excellent job showing Steph’s story through the trauma she deals with after the storm hits Arcadia Bay and her inability to deal with it while also engaging in a complicated but loving relationship all leading to her arriving in Haven Springs. Some of the book felt a bit repetitive in hindsight with how she and Izzie deal with their issues together but in the moment it always feels natural. Also Katy Bentz did a great job as the narrator.

Historia
Padmé is adjusting to being a wartime senator during the Clone Wars. Her secret husband, Anakin Skwyalker, is off fighting the war, and excels at being a wartime Jedi. In contrast, when Padmé gets the opportunity to see the casualties on the war-torn front lines, she is horrified. Meanwhile, with Padmé on a secret mission, her handmaiden Sabé steps into the role of Senator Amidala, something no handmaiden has done for an extended period of time. While in the Senate, Sabé is equally horrified by the machinations that happen there.

Like a Clone Wars filler episode but with Handmaiden lore
Revisado: 06-17-24
Like the previous books in this trilogy, this book was short and sweet with some fun bits and emotional moments but with an uninteresting story that goes nowhere. I feel like the only goal of these books was to give Padmé’s handmaidens development but these books were short enough with so many handmaidens that other than Sabé the rest really just get periodical updates on where they’re at in life like checking in on high school friends on Facebook. Catherine Taber did a good job as narrator, though.

Good Phantom Menace tie in
Revisado: 05-05-24
I enjoyed this book more as it went on but it certainly won’t be on my list of favorite Star Wars books. It was good as a backstory book about Queen Amidala and her handmaidens. I especially enjoyed the Phantom Menace tie ins in the second half and feel like it’s worth the listen/read just for that supplemental material.

So good it could still be canon.
Revisado: 04-20-24
I’ve heard a lot of hype for this now non-canon Star Wars novel and it didn’t disappoint. Showing Plagueis and Sidious’s training and machinations leading up to The Phantom Menace was engaging throughout and didn’t exactly show what I expected it to and often felt like it was more tell then show with the Sith often talking about important events after they happened. It was a bit self referential at times, quoting Star Wars titles like Revenge of the Sith and The Phantom Menace and having Padme tell someone “you’re our only hope” over hologram just like Leia. Still this book was great and while it’s not canon any more and many small parts don’t fit in the new canon I’d like to consider the broad strokes to be part of the grand plan of Star Wars until something else contradicts it.

An excellent original story of an outcast turned Inquisitor
Revisado: 03-26-24
I find that usually the best Star Wars books follow totally original characters rather than ones telling a chapter of an iconic character and this was no exception. This book told the tale of Jedi turned Inquisitor Iskat Akaris fleshing out her story through showing the failings of the Jedi and the rise of the Inquisitorious. Probably one of the better Star Wars books I’ve listened to with a great narrator to boot.

A solid anthology of short stories.
Revisado: 02-13-24
This book was a solid set of shorts focusing on the Jedi and Sith of every Star Wars era with some stories being fun, serious, dark, and with some emotional highs. The Anakin and Obi-Wan story was a great highlight seeing an adventure of theirs from a civilian’s perspective. This book is worth getting as an audiobook simply for the Maul and Ventress stories read by their respective voice actors.

Great stories and a great cast.
Revisado: 12-16-23
Like the other From a Certain Point of View anthologies, this book had tons of great stories following iconic characters, background characters, and totally original characters. Some were dark, others were silly, and the best were very emotional. Some of the stories felt a bit repetitive with 1 too many love stories featuring new characters. I really enjoyed the silly ones like the one from the perspective of the Sarlacc pit as well as the final Journal of the Whills story. My favorites were the Dexter Jettster, Sidious, Obi Wan, and Anakin stories. My biggest disappointment with this book, though, was the massive missed opportunity to tell the stories of Ahsoka and Rex and what they did during the OT and to finally confirm if Rex is actually that old Rebel on Endor. Now, I hope that I don’t have to wait until 2039 for the Phantom Menace FACPOV. Just do it at the 20 year anniversary.
