I’m applauding and shouting for an encore!

The way the author was able to magically weave in and out of pop culture references, deeply profound sentiments, and an ever captivating narrative made me grateful she shared her wonderful gift of writing with the world through this book. Her debut novel is entertaining, thought provoking, uplifting, and wickedly clever (tracks instead of chapters? Genius! Song names as chapter titles? Brilliant! A gorgeous spaceman dressed in drag? Amazing!). Protagonist Emily is a such relatable character with a complex array of emotions and so much charm that the reader can’t help but root for her. Lipstick Rick is as wise as he is magical with enough inspiring quotes to fill a Pinterest board. I hope this imaginative storyteller has more stories in store for us. (Rain might say something here about repeating the word “store” so much in one sentence 😉.) I will be anxiously waiting to read an encore!

Not for me

If you like “The Hating Game”, you’ll love The Christmas Pact as it’s the same exact story but set at Christmas time. Same raunchy sexual tension between two shallow characters. I didn’t like The Hating Game, so I didn’t make it further than a few chapters into this one. Tried to return but can’t since this was a free audible listen. I’m embarrassed to have it in my library.

Rachel’s wisdom, enthusiasm, humor, experience, motivation, advice and honesty make listening to this book an experience that I want to repeat. If you liked Girl, Wash Your Face (as I did), you’ll love the tangible advice, tools and encouragement she offers in its follow-up.

My Favorite Sophie Kinsella

I have yet to meet a Sophie Kinsella novel I didn’t like. Her characters are always funny and relatable. The stories are well told and entertaining. But Twenties Girl is by far my favorite. I love the characters and especially the relationship between Sadie and Laura. I love the plot line and how everything is tied up so perfectly at the end with a beautiful message of the importance of family and heritage. I’ve read and listened to it many times and I always tear up. Tallyho!

Rachel McAdams Shines

I have loved Anne for years. I've read this story to my daughters and enjoyed it myself. Hearing Rachel McAdams narrate, was like discovering Anne again for the first time. She captured the enthusiasm, wonder and joy that embodies the spirit of my favorite protagonist in literature.

I only wish she narrated the sequel so I could enjoy both Anne and Rachel longer!

Everything a Fantasy Fiction Novel Should Be

Once Kaci Morgan whisked my imagination away to the world of Sonal, I was riveted until the end and left anxiously anticipating the release of her sequel. The characters were well developed, the story line was intriguing, the suspense and romance kept me tuned in and the performance of the narrator felt regal and timeless.

I highly recommend Queen Immortal to fantasy-fiction lovers and all audiobook-worms like myself.
