Historia
When you listen to this audiobook, you will make many assumptions. You will assume you are listening to a story about a jealous ex-wife. You will assume she is obsessed with her replacement - a beautiful, younger woman who is about to marry the man they both love. You will assume you know the anatomy of this tangled love triangle. Assume nothing. Twisted and deliciously chilling, The Wife Between Us exposes the secret complexities of an enviable marriage - and the dangerous truths we ignore in the name of love.

Poor character development - unbelievable or thin motivations for characters ‘ actions. Do not bother reading it.

Historia
Milly's mother is a serial killer. Though Milly loves her mother, the only way to make her stop is to turn her in to the police. Milly is given a fresh start: a new identity, a home with an affluent foster family, and a spot at an exclusive private school. But Milly has secrets, and life at her new home becomes complicated. As her mother's trial looms, with Milly as the star witness, Milly starts to wonder how much of her is nature, how much of her is nurture, and whether she is doomed to turn out like her mother after all.

Trite.

Great reader. Story is pretty juvenile. Courtroom drama is unrealistic. Adults are unrealistic. Actually, a tedious story that I only listen to the end to make sure I was right.

Historia
In pitch-perfect voices, Kathryn Stockett creates three extraordinary women whose determination to start a movement of their own forever changes a town, and the way women—mothers, daughters, caregivers, friends—view one another. A deeply moving novel filled with poignancy, humor, and hope, The Help is a timeless and universal story about the lines we abide by, and the ones we don't.

Better Heard Than Read
Revisado: 03-28-16
The casting of the readers is what makes this selection wonderful. My only quibble is with the fairy tale ending, although I would have been upset if it were more realistic.

Listen as Frank tells in his own inimitable voice his story of how at the age of 19 he traveled from Limerick to New York in pursuit of the American dream. Historia
Why we think it’s a great listen: There’s no gentle way to put this – Frank McCourt’s performance of Angela’s Ashes is just better than the Pulitzer Prize-winning book. Frank McCourt shares his sometimes heartwarming, sometimes heartbreaking story of growing up poor, Irish, and Catholic in the Pulitzer Prize-winning memoir Angela's Ashes.

Impeccable
Revisado: 02-15-16
There is a reason this book won the Pulitzer Prize. After reading it, hearing it in Frank McCourt's own voice made it all the better. Listen to it for the sadness, the dark humor, the perseverance, and, ultimately, the comfort that is in it.

Historia
Two men, each handsome and unusually adept at his chosen work, embodied an element of the great dynamic that characterized America’s rush toward the twentieth century. The architect was Daniel Hudson Burnham, the fair’s brilliant director of works and the builder of many of the country’s most important structures, including the Flatiron Building in New York and Union Station in Washington, D.C. The murderer was Henry H. Holmes, a young doctor who, in a malign parody of the White City, built his “World’s Fair Hotel” just west of the fairgrounds.

The pretentious prose takes patience
Revisado: 02-08-16
As an architect, I enjoyed the in-depth analysis of the complex drivers and consequences of the Columbian Exposition. I also enjoyed the exploration of the society within which a mass murderer operated. However, as a reader who prefers Mark Twain to Fenimore Cooper, I found myself rolling my eyes and thinking of Twain's essay, "Fenimore Cooper's Literary Offenses," far to often.
