Historia
If anyone considered an army wife to be merely the kite’s tail, Beatrice Ayer Patton had the perfect retort: “How high can a kite soar without its tail?” General George Patton once remarked that World War II undoubtedly would have lasted a lot longer were it not for his soldiers and his wife. Those who knew the Pattons were aware of the vital role Beatrice played in his reaching his destiny, but few others understood the singular impact of this remarkable woman whom people described as having “a personality which radiates like a brilliant gem”.

Excellent; a great listen

"Lady of the Army" is skillfully researched and written and expertly narrated by Dana P. Rowe, who brings such warmth and depth to this unique story. His engaging narration brings to life a singular woman, Beatrice Ayer Patton, who is no typical “woman behind the man.” Her intelligence, instincts, and powerful sense of purpose are a wonder to behold. I’m so glad I spent time with this book; I learned about a remarkable, inspirational lady who chose love and provided boundless inspiration and support to the lauded General Patton. Stefanie Van Steelandt’s writing and Dana’s narration transport the listener to an America in transition. We know who won the war but here we have the story of a woman who lived by example through sacrifice, love, honor, humanity, and humility; stories like this need to be told.
