Historia
Fourteen years have passed since the virus ripped through the global population, crushing the modern world and leaving the cities crawling with the infected. The immune who survived the violence of the collapse fled to remote havens like Balmorhea, a tiny town in the desert of Far West Texas.

Historia
It was just a random mutation - one of a billion that happen in viruses every day. But this one was different. It exploded out of Somalia and spread across the oceans before anybody thought to look up from their cell phones to see what was going on. The infected breathed the virus into the air around them, spreading it through the cities faster than anyone thought possible. Hospitals were overwhelmed. Police lines crumbled. Quarantine sites disintegrated. Cities started to collapse.

Practical Telling of a Zombie Apocalype
Revisado: 01-05-25
The tragedy and humor of a zombie, apocalypse, the exigencies of life and the impotance/significance of friends and fragility of society. Zombies are not a genre that I'm attracted to, but I am thoroughly enjoying both the story and the telling of it.

Historia
1803. The Napoleonic Wars. A Royal Navy warship is ordered to pursue an enemy frigate to the icy waters far south in the Indian Ocean. There, it must capture the enemy ship and retrieve a mysterious sea chest, contents unknown, failure not permitted. For the determined young captain and his eager crew, this already dangerous mission turns into a battle with a mysterious vessel that appears not in the sea, but unbelievably, impossibly, in the sky above. But nothing could prepare the crew for what lay beyond the 50th latitude of south.

Great Adventure!
Revisado: 11-13-24
The story struck me as Master and Commander meets Cowboys and Aliens. The blend of history, seamanship, society, and strange encounters kept me listening. The authors use of technical knowledge of the time, and proper languages and accents lent verisimilitude. and the recitation was on point.
thoroughly enjoyed this story!

Historia
A century before Britain became involved in this terrible business, whole villages and towns in European countries were being depopulated by slavers, who transported the men, women, and children to Africa, where they were sold. This is the forgotten slave trade, one which saw over a million Christians forced into captivity in the Muslim world. Starting in the ancient world, Simon Webb traces the history of slavery in Europe, showing that the numbers involved were vast and that the victims were often treated far more cruelly than black slaves in America and the Caribbean.

Filling in blanks
Revisado: 12-06-23
There are large kniwledge gaps in the general public in terms of slavery, other than the transatlantic shipments of slaves from Africa. This book provides details on some of those gaps.
