What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

I really liked the overall concept of the story and the mythological history it presents for its characters. I also really loved the main characters. I found the story to be really engrossing for quite some time. But I really lost interest once sort of 2/3 of the way through, the perspective switches to an entirely different character and time for the remainder of the book. It was very confusing and disconcerting for me. That being said listening to and experience the romance and drama of the first 2/3 of the book was really worth it and very exciting.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I thought it was really exciting, and very romantic, and engrossing, for most of it. It made me giggle a lot, and react out loud to what the main character was doing-- in a good way, for me, at least (maybe not anyone near me as I listened to it!)

Any additional comments?

Yeah this was good for the most part, and really interesting in a lot of ways, but it isn't something I will probably return to, at least not for a while, and probably not in its entirety. The perspective shift just really bugged me and threw me off the book. But perhaps to some, that could be exciting or interesting, in a narrative way. I think I would still recommend giving this book a try if you are into mythology/folklore and smoldering teen drama and romance (but also, you know, part of a much larger drama, of course)

Where does Paper Valentine rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I like the performance of this book! The actress is really good at making characters distinct, and the baseline narration was also really lovely. Typically I don't find books written in present tense to be enjoyable but I think the voice acting made it really nice.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Paper Valentine?

The reveal! It surprised me, and I had decided early on what I thought had happened!

Which character – as performed by Caitlin Prennace – was your favorite?

Finney! So good, such good acting!!

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It was honestly a lot spookier than I expected, but that was really good. And it made me sentimental, as this is a book I would have absolutely lost my mind fawning over in middle and high school.

Any additional comments?

I really like this book! I think as a YA story it is really cool. As someone with an eating disorder it was interesting to see the story of the friend of someone who suffered with ED. I think the story is pretty true to what I and a lot of other people experience. That being said if hearing someone say sort of ignorant, sometimes meanspirited (out of misunderstanding) things about anorexia, then this book might not be easy to get through, as it features very prominently.
