This book kept me entertained. It reminded me of hunger games, but with more fantasy elements. I would recommend it to people who like fantasy and hunger games. If someone doesn't like one of those, they won't appreciate this book.

This Is One I Will Read and Reread Forever

Some books you read once and find entertaining to at least some degree. Others you can't make it through because they just never capture your imagination enough to hold your attention. A few you read and reread, discuss with friends, visualize movie adaptations for, and think about entirely too much!

This goes on my Read and Cherish Forever List. It will be a book I will listen to sometimes and read at other times. Currently, I own the Kindle and Audible versions. Soon, I will own the hardback.

My sister read it first and insisted that I read it. I got it, and we have texted back and forth about it for days. We have talked about it. Discussed it. Shared our favorite quotes. Dreamed of having our own silver power, and predicted sequels.

I am a reader and above all I love fantasy. This fits the bill perfectly.

Should you read it? I don't know. Do you like fantasy? If you hate fantasy, then probably not. If you like fantasy (you don't have to love fantasy,) then, yes, read it.

I loved it; it left me wanting more

The best books always leave me wanting to read everything I can get my hands on by the author. This book has left me wanting to read all of Terry Goodkind's books.

An introduction to Inspector Mike Green

I have to say, that it is probably a good thing that the first book I listened to by Barbara Fradkin was The Fifth Son, because I really enjoyed that book, and I liked Inspector Mike Green. He wasn't quite as likeable in this novel.

This book is great introduction to a new author

This is the first book I have ever listened to by Barbara Fradkin. I think it is probably the first I've listened to that was set in Canada as well. The performance is enjoyable. I wanted to listen to more by this author after listening to this book.

Buy the book with illustrations!!!

I love listening to audio books, but this is one book that you need to get with all of the pictures. You lose a lot going with the audio version. That said, this book failed to deliver what it promised. It promised a great story about a boy and an automan. The first half even begins to deliver on that promise, but suddenly the story I wanted to read is shoved aside to celebrate some bitter old man who was a silent film maker. I felt ripped off. However, if you get the physical book with illustrations, some of that feeling is negated by awesome illustrations and pictures of the movies by this silent film maker, and you do want to know more about him.

It is very punny, but not very funny

I wanted to like this book, but I didn't. The whole story is too contrived. I'm really sorry that I bought it.
