“Time Killer: A World of Monsters” was not what I expected. It is a serial killer book and a time travel book in one, but it goes in directions that kept me guessing. With nice development of the main characters and a villain who did not seem far fetched “Time Killer: A World of Monsters” surprised me at several times and kept me guessing where it was going until the end.

I really liked the development of the villain. Though he is a serial killer he is not some kind of super genius, a trope that is very overused these days. He is cunning and evil, but he is not operating on a level far above those pursuing him. This is refreshing.

The time travel though complicated has rules and none of them seem to farfetched. At every point where I thought, “Oh the plot will go in this direction and the characters will this, that or the other thing,”, I was wrong. I really liked that.
My only beef with the book was that In felt the main heroes could have been a bit more developed. I liked them and could relate to them, but I felt they needed to be fleshed out a bit more. This can be done in subsequent books though, so I am not worried about it.

All in all, excellent reading/listening. I downloaded the follow up “Time Killer, Book II: The Hunters & The Prey” to listen to on my long drives, not waiting for my next Audible credit. The only problem is I must stop listening when I arrive at my destination so as not to have nothing to listen to on the way home.
