Historia
When Alice Greczyn's parents felt called by God to exchange worldly employment for heavenly provision, they followed their faith into homelessness with five children and a cat in tow. Homeschooled and avowed never to kiss a man until her wedding day, Alice had plans to escape by becoming a missionary nurse—plans that were put on hold with the opening of an unexpected door: the opportunity to be a Hollywood actress. What followed was a test of faith unlike any she had prepared for, one that forced her to learn to survive without the only framework for life she had ever known.

Don’t miss out!
Revisado: 01-12-23
If you grew up as a conservative, spirit-filled Christian, and have struggled with breaking away or even sharing that you want to, this book will speak to you. I’m a 50 year old woman who was a pastor at 36 years old. After my divorce, my faith, very slowly, unraveled, but just like the author, it felt like freedom! I’ve never had a safe group of friends who understand and relate, and that has been so isolating. I’m inspired now to seek out the resources to gain that support! Thank you, Alice! This was a fantastic memoir!

Historia
A formerly chubby kid who self‑identified for much of his life as “the fat friend,” media personality and podcast host Van Lathan Jr. has struggled with physical and mental health his entire life. He was used to being his besties' wing man on the dating scene, the slack bench‑dweller at the gym, and his mother's biggest fan at every meal, especially whenever she served up her infamous mac and cheese with five different kinds of cheese. At 365 lbs, Van hated being fat so much, he found it harder than being Black!

Historia
In this “vital, necessary, and beautiful book” (Michael Eric Dyson), antiracist educator Robin DiAngelo deftly illuminates the phenomenon of white fragility and “allows us to understand racism as a practice not restricted to 'bad people'" (Claudia Rankine). Referring to the defensive moves white people make when challenged racially, white fragility is characterized by emotions such as anger, fear, and guilt and by behaviors including argumentation and silence. These behaviors, in turn, function to reinstate white racial equilibrium and prevent meaningful cross-racial dialogue.

Life-changing opportunity
Revisado: 09-07-20
This book presented a paradigm-shifting, life-altering points of view with a call to action. A call to lay down defensiveness and open one’s mind, heart and a commitment to changes in behavior.
I HIGHLY recommend this book to everyone.
