Bravo!
Revisado: 01-06-19
This third installment in the Mickey Bolitar series by Harlan Coban was fantastic! They must be read/listened to in order. The characters are strong. The plot is tight. It is a great YA novel series. I hope there are more to come.

Great YA novel
Revisado: 01-05-19
I read the first book in this series. The narration enhanced my enjoyment of this second book. It kept my guessing til all unfolded in the end. It is written in the same easy style as Coban's adult books. The wittiness makes his writing enjoyable. Can't wait to listen to book 3!

Historia
In 1914, the war which was to have been wrapped up by Christmas had - in reality - only just begun, as all sides entrenched themselves deeper into the Great War. Christmas Eve, 1914 follows one company of British officers as they rotate forward to spend their Christmas on the front lines, a mere 80 yards from the German guns. Upper- and working-class men and boys are thrown together into one trench and struggle to survive.

I could not get through the horrible war story to get to the enjoyment of a fine Christmas story. The production was well done.

Historia
It's spring in England, and location scout Kate Sharp has returned to the quaint village of Nether Woodsmoor with its lush gardens, budding hedgerows, and mellow stone cottages to work on a Jane Austen television documentary. The unique opportunity also gives her the chance to explore a possible romance with Alex, the deliciously rumpled local scout. Rumors of recently discovered Jane Austen letters stir up the production, but then tragedy strikes and a stranger dies in a fire in a village cottage. Soon it's evident that the fire wasn't an accident, but murder.

Revisado: 12-15-18
This series is superbly read. I can't tell if the narrator is American feigning a British accent or vice versa. She also does the men's voices well. Her reading enhances my enjoyment of this charming cozy series of mysteries. I look forward to another!

A New Favorite!
Revisado: 10-26-18
First, Scott Brick is one of my favorite narrators. He always does an excellent job no matter the genre. His voice is easy to listen to. The movie of this book has always been one of my favorite movies. I can turn on the tv and pick up the movie in the middle and be enthralled. Having heard the book now, I have much more dimension to add. Great book. Very tense and exciting to hear.

While not a horse racing fan, I do love a good success story. This seemed to be well researched. The narrator did a great job of engaging me. I learned a lot of new equine vocabulary and a whole lot about horse racing and breeding. It kept my attention all the way through, even though I knew the basic story and results from the beginning.
