Historia
Ove is almost certainly the grumpiest man you will ever meet. He isn't as young as he used to be. He drives a Saab. He points at people he doesn't like the look of. He is described by those around his as 'the neighbour from hell'.Every morning he makes his inspection rounds of the local streets. He moves bicycles and checks the contents of recycling bins, even though it's been years since he was fired as Chairman of the Residents' Association in a vicious 'coup d'état'.

Narrator ruins story
Revisado: 06-17-21
This book had great reviews and promise but the narrator was terrible and ruined the story for me, I couldn’t keep listening. Will try reading instead.

Historia
The audiobook tells the story of Stella Fortuna, born into rural poverty in a mountainside Calabrian village in the early 20th century. After being abandoned by their father, who had left to seek his fortune in L'America, Stella grew up with her beloved mother, Assunta, her brother, Giuseppe, and her sister, Tina. Tough, vivacious, and fiercely loyal, the sisters were always inseparable, going on to support each other through immigration, marriage, children, loss - and the seven (or eight, depending how you count them) near-death experiences Stella suffered throughout her life.

A story that spans generations and sucks you into their lives so fully. Beautifully narrated. Quite gritty, at times, and laugh out loud at others. Loved.

Boring and inane
Revisado: 06-15-20
Started with promise but is essentially a long-winded book about beautiful people being beautiful and stupid. Would not recommend to anyone.

Brilliant mick heron
Revisado: 05-27-20
One of the sharpest, wittiest writers of spy thrillers. Dead lions continues the Slow Horses series in brilliant style, with anti-hero MI5 spook Jackson Lamb running his bunch of weirdos and wash-ups who find themselves in compromised situations, either of their own making or because of their position as has-beens, copping the blame for others’ cock-ups.

Enjoyably mindless read
Revisado: 05-27-20
Harmless, mindless read, some funny off-the-cuff quips. Good smash/crash title, wouldn’t read another by his author though.

Terrible narration
Revisado: 03-07-20
Unfortunately the narrator ruined this for me, I couldn’t listen past the first chapter. Accent sounded forced (possibly faked), and the characters were made to sound insufferable. Story had potential but impossible to listen to this.
