Historia
Mattie and Brewster are normal, typical 16-year-old twins who live with their normal, boring parents: Martin and Gwen Banks. Normal and boring, that is, until the day their father's best friend shows up at their house - dressed in what appears to be a bathrobe. The next thing Mattie and Brewster know, their parents are frozen like human statues in their living room, the guy in the bathrobe has vanished, and they need to find answers - fast.

Kinda done with this series
Revisado: 04-26-25
I was contemplating on whether or not to even buy this last book in the series. But the reviews convinced me. I'm here to convince you otherwise.
The series overall has a great idea and premise, however the implementation could be better. The author does not know how to handle any kind of human emotion. I have felt neither warm and fuzzy, nor sad and teary throughout the whole series. Some might call it "light reading", but it eventually bores you to death.
It's a great audiobook to fall asleep to, I must give it that. I found the series because it's similar to Jasper Fforde stuff (according to Audible), but it's like night and day.
It's one of those books you find yourself checking out of, I even forgot I did not finish it. Conclusion: you will be fine with reading a couple of books in the series, it does not improve further in.

I was just a normal kid, I went to school (got expelled a lot, but that wasn't my fault), played sports and hung out with my best friend.Until I accidentally vaporized my maths teacher. Now, I spend my time at Camp Half Blood, battling monsters and generally trying to stay alive. And now that Zeus thinks I've stolen his lightning bolt, staying alive is going to be even harder.

Enjoyable listen
Revisado: 06-18-24
It's not some kind of masterpiece, but I enjoyed the book and the performance. And I'll keep listening to the series. It's very much that "teen fantasy" without too many layers. Perhaps it will become more complex in the following books.

Historia
Imagine a world where your position in society depended on what bit of the colour spectrum you could see. This is the world inhabited by Eddie Russett (red, middle-level) and Jane Grey (monochromatic, lowest in society). Eddie and Jane must negotiate the delicate Chromatic politics of society to find out what the 'Something that Happened' actually was, how society got to be this way, and crucially, is there Somewhere Else beyond their borders?

The long awaited ending (?)
Revisado: 02-12-24
First of all, a weird thing: I had to listen at 0.85x speed for the book to sound normal. It feels like it was sped up for an unknown reason. As to the story, it is impeccable as always with Jasper Fforde. It gives a quite satisfactory ending, but I think that the next book is still possible. Gordini Protocols was announced back in the days. It's 8/10 for me, and I totally recommend. Listening to the book performed by the author is a great privilege <3

Historia
The Gingerbreadman: Psychopath, sadist, genius, convicted murderer and biscuit is loose in the streets of Reading. It isn't Jack Spratt's case. He and Mary Mary have been reassigned due to falling levels of nursery crime, and The NCD is once more in jeopardy. That is, until a chance encounter during the Armitage Shanks literary awards at the oddly familiar Deja-Vu Club lead Jack and Mary on the hunt for missing journalist Henrietta 'Goldilocks' Hatchett, star reporter for The Daily Toad.

Historia
Best-selling author Jasper Fforde begins an effervescent new series. It's Easter in Reading - a bad time for eggs - and no one can remember the last sunny day. Humpty Dumpty, well-known nursery favourite, large egg, ex-convict and former millionaire philanthropist, is found shattered beneath a wall in a shabby area of town.

Pleasant experience

Jasper Fforde fails to disappoint as always. And the audio book is read well. I liked the voice acting. Not overdone, not mumbly, does not interfere with the reading.

Historia
Moist von Lipwig is a con artist and a fraud and a man faced with a life choice: be hanged, or put the ailing postal service of Ankh-Morpork back on its feet. It's a tough decision. The post is a creaking old institution, overshadowed by new technology. But there are people who still believe in it and Moist must become one of them if he's going to see that the mail gets through, come rain, hail, sleet, dogs, the Post Office Workers Friendly and Benevolent Society, an evil chairman...and a midnight killer. Getting a date with Adora Bell Dearheart would be nice, too.

I'm struggling with the voice acting
Revisado: 11-22-23
I'm supposed to like this book, but unfortunately I'm struggling to follow the story. The voice acting is kind of over the top and ends up being too much and mumbly. I'm unfortunately not sure if I'm able to finish the book. The story is jumping from one point of view to another and there is no musical dividers.

Historia
Sixteen-year-old Jennifer Strange and her sidekick and fellow orphan Tiger Prawns have been driven to the tip of the UnUnited Kingdoms - Cornwall - by the invasion of the Trolls. Their one defence is a six-foot-wide trench full of buttons, something which the Trolls find unaccountably terrifying (it's their clickiness). Worse than being eaten by Trolls is the prospect of the Mighty Shandar requisitioning the Quarkbeast and using him to achieve supreme power and domination.

Things are about to change. Magical power is on the rise and King Snodd IV of Hereford has realised that he who controls Magic controls almost anything. Only one person stands between Snodd and his plans for unimaginable power and riches.

It's boring
Revisado: 03-31-23
It's just boring. Some stories are better, some are very boring and I struggled to finish them. And I hated the voice acting even more: it sounded robotic. I wonder if those are actually human.
