Historia
Technological advances have benefited our world in immeasurable ways, but there is an ominous flip side: our technology can be turned against us. Hackers can activate baby monitors to spy on families, thieves are analyzing social media posts to plot home invasions, and stalkers are exploiting the GPS on smart phones to track their victims’ every move. We all know today’s criminals can steal identities, drain online bank accounts, and wipe out computer servers, but that’s just the beginning.

Because you’re not afraid of enough
Revisado: 02-29-24
This book keeps being relevant 9 years after published. It’s an eye widening piece of the risk we are facing at the www every day. It’s impressive the exposure we face and how oblivious we share our information. The multitude of scams and risks described are amazing.
Just mind-blowing!

Good attempt, lackluster execution

It’s a good simil, but it’s soon out of perspective and overused
Revisado: 02-23-24
By the second chapter any relationship you have is a zombie relationship.
I think she misses the point soon in the development of being overpowered by some external force and being moved by acceptable desires to live and harmonize with other.
Love and friendship, the definition of the book, is a zombification. When exactly are the things they make us feel and look alive.

Historia
It is impossible to overstate the cultural significance of the four men described in Don Lattin's The Harvard Psychedelic Club. Huston Smith, tirelessly working to promote cross-cultural religious and spiritual tolerance. Richard Alpert, aka Ram Dass, inspiring generations with his mantra "be here now". Andrew Weil, undisputed leader of the holistic medicine revolution. And, of course, Timothy Leary, the charismatic, rebellious counterculture icon and LSD guru.

A large list of events.
Revisado: 01-15-24
Just a very extense list of events, unending. There is no depth on the narration. Just a third person recording of dates and actions.

Historia
Maverick thinker Nassim Nicholas Taleb had an illustrious career on Wall Street before turning his focus to his black swan theory. Not all swans are white, and not all events, no matter what the experts think, are predictable. Taleb shows that black swans, like 9/11, cannot be foreseen and have an immeasurable impact on the world.

So out-layers exist...
Revisado: 06-14-19
The message, watch for out-layers as these are the events that may take your life to an other level...
But there are two important aspects in this view... first, there is a space for statistics, The author talks of statistics as the devil itself. It´s clear he has not worked in any operations as statistics are fundamental to the administration of the things of the world.
Of course, there are out-layers... and although in the recorded stories these events make 80% of what we like to talk about and remember. The lives of greater than life people, improbable or impossible missions these make for less than 1% of the events of the world (that´s why they are out-layers) and our ability to identify them is very limited.
The recommendation is good: open your eyes to the next black swan as these changes are leaps instead of gradual.
But this book doesn´t say other insight beyond that.

A panacea big leap
Revisado: 03-04-19
So I believe Henrdicks in on to something. The mean idea is that we usually sabotage our selves for fear of leaving a great life, of breaking the ceiling and going to the next level.
He does take a "big leap" when explaining (with no space of doubt) the problems of the world because of this principle. Which is quite ridiculous, as international world problems are more complex and it´s the kind of explanation I would expect from a new age religion or some other facebook publication.
Finally, the theory of the "production of time" it´s just unreal. Literally, it says "you can create your own time". As other BS theories, it cites Einstein to make it sound "scientifical".
This book could be a pamphlet with just the information to analyze yourself to avoid self-sabotage.

Complete and engaging
Revisado: 03-04-19
Never had I imagined the profound and impressive story of Ghengis Khan. The presentation is very complete with a lot of detail and in a manner of storytelling. So even though the whole presentation is 18 hours, you are engaged and want to go to the next chapter.
It takes the man far beyond the monster is usually presented in other shallow books and stories.
I really recommend it.

Historia
In this series of lectures, professor Eric H. Cline delves into the history of ancient Greece, frequently considered to be the founding nation of democracy in Western civilization. Ancient Greece lives on in modern culture, evidenced by an ever-present fascination with the tales of Homer, Greek drama, and the stories associated with Greek mythology. In the rise of Sparta and Athens, people today find a wealth of material for understanding not only ancient Greece, but the modern world.

An impressive surprise
Revisado: 10-02-18
The story takes turns I didn’t expect. It reminds me of some other non-ferie tales I’ve read that take place on the land of feries. Though not as brutal as “Forgotten king Gudu”. The contrast of beauty and fear, grace and merciless is very interesting. And even at the middle of the book I was not sure what was it al about.
Really enjoyed it! The performance is also very good!

Revisado: 09-08-18
The book is ok, not a great page turner. You mostly know were things are heading but does a good job getting us to understand Raistlin.
The performance is very good. Ever when he speaks for a woman it’s not anoying like in other artists.

The performance of Cazenove is superb. Black humor in every line.
