Historia
The causes of Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder range from severe neglect to monstrous abuse. Many survivors grew up in houses that were not homes-in families that were as loveless as orphanages and sometimes as dangerous. If you felt unwanted, unliked, rejected, hated, and/or despised for a lengthy portion of your childhood, trauma may be deeply engrained in your mind, soul, and body. This book is a practical guide to recovering from lingering childhood trauma. It is copiously illustrated with examples of the author's and his clients' journeys of recovering.

Unfortunately I think I need to return this...
Revisado: 06-25-20
The narrator's voice is really deep and for some reason it triggered me. I don't know if it was verbally hearing the information or the man's voice that did it. I got really jittery and uncomfortable and started rocking (I'm autistic). I'm okay now. I think I better return the audiobook. The eBook on my Kindle doesn't do that to me at all. I'll just stick with reading it instead. It's a good book overall. Just something with the audiobook triggered something in me.

Good short little book
Revisado: 06-23-20
Had some useful information in it. I just wish they didn't quote Ekhart Tholle so much. That guy is a hack. But other than that I gained some decent insight from it about the emotional world.

Historia
The occasion was a big birthday. And it inspired two close friends to get together in Dharamsala for a talk about something very important to them. The friends were His Holiness the Dalai Lama and Archbishop Desmond Tutu. The subject was joy. Both winners of the Nobel Prize, both great spiritual masters and moral leaders of our time, they are also known for being among the most infectiously happy people on the planet.

This book is so slow!
Revisado: 06-18-20
I made it halfway through the book and still had 5 hours left. It was getting painfully slow. I already know all about Buddhist philosophies and theories so it wasn't saying anything I didn't already know. The very end is a lot of prayers and mediation and all of that stuff is of no interest to me as a non-religious person. I'm sure its insightful for some people, but it really didn't say anything I don't already know. I'm returning the book and looking for something else. It was too painfully slow and it really dragged on.

Historia
In this characteristically turbocharged new book, celebrated Rolling Stone journalist Matt Taibbi provides an insider's guide to the variety of ways today's mainstream media tells us lies. In the internet age, the press have mastered the art of monetizing anger, paranoia, and distrust. Taibbi, who has spent much of his career covering elections in which this kind of manipulative activity is most egregious, provides a rich taxonomic survey of American political journalism's dirty tricks.

This book is kind of mean
Revisado: 04-23-20
I'm autistic so I have been looking for audiobooks on social skills to help me better understand how neurotypical (non-autistic) people communicate so I can better my communication skills. But this book is pretty mean. There's 2 chapters telling you what a bad person you are for not being able to communicate or listen or understand people. At one point it even calls the listener a narcissist. I turned it off at that point. I know its only $5 for this audiobook, but I don't want to pay for a book that just spends the first 45 minutes (that's as far as I got) insulting the listener with really harsh words. I want a refund!

Very helpful book
Revisado: 04-21-20
I have a different perspective on this book because I am autistic and alexithymia. My love languages are far outside of the book and I personally did not identify with any of it. However, I have a neurotypical (non-autistic) partner and this book helped a great deal with learning how a neurotypical person feels loved and things I can do to help my partner feel loved in his own love language. Overall very useful. I learned a lot. Which is what I was hoping for.
