Once the world was beautiful and full of people. Cities filled the landscape and buildings reached the sky. But now, after The Wandering, very few portions of the old world remain, and more of the surviving fragments of a glorious past disappear every day.

Action! ...and more action!

The author is actually a pretty enjoyable narrator.
The story is pretty much one action scene after another with wooden dialogue between. Some interactions are very odd or seem like wasted time. An argument that never goes anywhere for example. Or a character who is supposed an expert on books that seems to mistake The Grapes of Wrath for Of Mice and Men. Lastly, this is another of the increasing trend of books that are written as a series, so there is no real conclusion.
It's not a bad book by any stretch, but I won't be reading any more in this series.
