feels like a YA book

The main character is supposed to a mature woman but the narrator makes her sound like a young teen. Overall the story and the voice together are unsatisfactory. Might have felt differently if the narrator sounded like an adult.

Not going to finish. Narrator inflections are non-existent. It's like somebody reciting a grocery list. Might be ok to read, but listening to it just doesn't convey any of it's 'funny , tender, or uplifting' message.

I've enjoyed the other titles in this series, and would really like to be able to listen. But the narrator sounds like he's whispering everything. I couldn't get past chapter one. I'm so glad it's part of audible escape and I didn't spend any credits on it.

What would have made Once Upon a Kiss better?
Better writing. Too much reliance on exclamations of 'God's truth' or 'Sweet Mary' or a number of other ones. Did the characters really need to say that in every sentence?

No, just this author.
Would you be willing to try another one of Braden Wright’s performances?
Depends on what it being narrated. His female voices are too awful. But he has a good voice, and his male voices are very good.

Not that I can think of.

Very disappointed. The description sounded good, but this is the first book I've listened to by this author. I'll make a note to avoid her in the future.

Where does Mystery Man rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Pretty high. I've read all of Kristen Ashley's books, and was very happy to see them offered on audio.
What did you like best about this story?
I agree with other reviews in that the storyline and characters are not real world, but if I wanted to read/listen to real world, I'd stick to history and biography. This is a work of fiction, who cares if it's real? It's enough to just live in the fantasy for a while.
What three words best describe Kate Russell’s voice?
Too New Jersey. This book is set in Colorado, why does everyone seem to have a New Jersey accent?

Andrew Yancy—late of the Miami Police and soon-to-be-late of the Monroe County sheriff’s office—has a human arm in his freezer. There’s a logical (Hiaasenian) explanation for that, but not for how and why it parted from its shadowy owner. Yancy thinks the boating-accident/shark-luncheon explanation is full of holes, and if he can prove murder, the sheriff might rescue him from his grisly Health Inspector gig (it’s not called the roach patrol for nothing).

Although I have always admired Arte Johnson, and would love to listen to more books he's narrated, I am a firm fan of George Wilson and I've always thought he is the best narrator for any Hiaasen book. His dry reading, pace, and timing cannot be matched.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
No. This was $4.95 special purchase, but I should have paid attention to the narrator. Brenda Jackson is ok, but the narrator, Madison Vaughn, is so awful, it's painful to listen to her. I speeded up the pace, which helped, but the delivery is too stagey, with too many breathey, emotional pauses. Very irritating.
Would you be willing to try another book from Brenda Jackson? Why or why not?
Yes, if the narrator was different.

A totally different narrator.
