Historia
Those on the side of progressing humanity through advanced technology have finally triumphed over their oppressors. The unholy war between the small but mighty island realm of Charis and the radical, luddite Church of God's Awaiting has come to an end. However, even though a provisional veil of peace has fallen over human colonies, the quiet will not last. For Safehold is a broken world, and as international alliances shift and Charis charges on with its precarious mission of global industrialization, the shifting plates of the new world order are bound to clash.

What a waste!!
Revisado: 01-15-19
I cannot understand who produced this installment. Its one thing to change narrator, its something else to go from an excellent narrator to an average one. Especially one who hasn't done his homework. Mispronouncing names, using the same weird accent for all the characters and demolishing a really good story in the process. I am really, really disappointed for I cannot listened carefully for 32 hours without being able to recognize the characters. I think I'll sit this one out until I can read it for myself. Jonathan Davis is awful.

So conflicted ...
Revisado: 08-19-18
Just love, love the story but the execution was very, very flawed, and the narration extremely dull. So, I am so conflicted about this title but yet I still think it was worth the credit.

Historia
Conquered by the Jao twenty years ago, the Earth is shackled under alien tyranny - and threatened by the even more dangerous Ekhat, one of whose genocidal extermination fleets is coming to the solar system. The only chance for human survival is in the hands of an unusual pair of allies: a young Jao prince, newly arrived to Terra to assume his duties, and a young human woman brought up amongst the Jao occupiers. But, as their tentative alliance takes shape, they are under pressure from all sides.

Very David Weber-like but without the tech prattle
Revisado: 09-09-14
Would you listen to The Course of Empire again? Why?
Because the story is very David Weber but a better improved version of the style
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Course of Empire?
The coming together of the humans and joas.
Have you listened to any of Chris Patton’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
No, I have not but I rank him with the best. Military scifi is hard to narrate but he is really outstanding
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Sometimes the enemy of my enemy is just another enemy
