Meh. Expected more
Revisado: 08-25-24
Story had characters well fleshed out. Narrator very easy to listen to. But the story wasn’t that compelling to me. I was a little bored most of the time, feel like it could have been so much better.

Historia
The Yellow House delves into the passion and politics of Northern Ireland at the beginning of the 20th century. Eileen O'Neill's family is torn apart by religious intolerance and secrets from the past. Determined to reclaim her ancestral home and reunite her family, Eileen begins working at the local mill, saving her money and holding fast to her dream. As war is declared on a local and global scale, Eileen cannot separate the politics from the very personal impact the conflict has had on her own life.

Historia
Delia Sweeney has always been unlike her older sister - fair and delicate compared to tall, statuesque Nora, whose hair is as dark as Donegal turf. In other ways, too, the sisters are leagues apart. Nora is her mother's darling, favored at every turn, and expected to marry into wealth. Delia, constantly slighted, finds a measure of happiness helping her da on the farm. The rest of the time, she reads about far-off places that seem sure to remain a fantasy. Until the day a letter arrives from America.

Good one 4 1/2 stars - start of a series
Revisado: 04-26-24
Many characters in a large family which are very enjoyable to follow. Good story. Plenty of drama and excitement.
Totally enjoy that this is a good clean story with no cussing or sex. They went a little heavy on the Christianity in my opinion. Not only trying to tell a good story but evangelism too sometimes felt awkward to me. But I’ll take that over a book that’s just filled with sex, f bombs and lack of imagination any day.
Narrator is male and sometimes I had a hard time following who was who in the story.

Historia
The Girl of Sugar Beach is the most watched documentary in television history - a riveting, true-life mystery that unfolds over 12 weeks and centers on a fascinating question: Did Grace Sebold murder her boyfriend, Julian, while on a Spring Break vacation, or is she a victim of circumstance and poor police work? Grace has spent the last 10 years in a St. Lucian prison, and reaches out to filmmaker Sidney Ryan in a last, desperate attempt to prove her innocence. As Sidney begins researching, she uncovers issues that were all overlooked during the original investigation.

Only so-so for me
Revisado: 04-13-24
I just never connected with this book. I wanted to like it, and unfortunately don’t know what all the fuss was about in others’ reviews. Many were passionate about this book. For me it got bogged down numerous times and bored me.
And the ending was even worse! The ending left me so disappointed. If you read it remember I warned you.
I would definitely NOT recommend this book.

Love the characters Maybe Sue Joe and Pockets. Love the backstory on Pockets having served HRH Queen Elizabeth.
Honestly on the story, I got lost in a bit in the middle, but there was a strong ending which captured me and I don’t even remember breathing.

I love how the author draws you to characters you feel “ fit like family”. They are not perfect people, but people we love.
The scenes Adriana creates are exceptionally well done. Each book feels like a present to this reader, I can’t wait to pull off the pretty cover and I am never disappointed at what awaits me inside.
I do appreciate a good book that doesn’t have up dummy down to its readers. Beautiful words make each story and the outcome is a real treasure.

Yes! OJ did it
Revisado: 02-01-24
Strange book to read. Since OJ was found not guilty of the murders, this egotistical person decided to keep all the attention on himself and write this “fiction” account of the murders. He’s certainly not fooling anybody by professing great love for Nicole, them blaming the victim for everything that went wrong. I think it was Chapter 6 he writes matter of factly about the actual murder and his accomplice “Charlie”. In real life, years later OJ and real Charlie get arrested in Las Vegas for the sports memorabilia robbery that finally put him away.
By Chapter 8 he’s spewing his innocence again and says he wasn’t there. So weird. I felt like he thought I forgot he just admitted it a couple of chapters earlier.
This book is so strange…but so was this whole sad mess that played out on tv in 1994-5.
God bless the families involved. I couldn’t imagine having to be in their shoes.
