Historia
Living off the land and adapting to a changing environment takes a special individual with the unique skills, training, and determination necessary to survive. Gus Berry is not that individual. The former house painter barely made it out of Annapolis as its population underwent a violent transformation, leaving everyone he knew or loved dead—or undead. Now, Gus needs food and booze, weapons and armor, clothing that fits, and above all, toilet paper, preferably two-ply.

A filler...WARNING - MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS
Revisado: 02-14-22
I learnt a few things from this book. The most important thou would be that anyone new to this series, should listen to them in released order.
I think if someone listened to the first prequel, they would be on a bit of a high and would find this book to be a let down. It may even put them off continuing with the series. Which would definitely be a pity as it is worth sticking with.
Those of us who enjoyed this book, although I dare say will be no one's favorite of the series, will be those that have come to love the main character, Gus. For us it is a way to know more about how he became the alcoholic he is, how he dealt with the change of lifestyle, how his former lifestyle impeded his actions and choices in the current and what happened to some of the others from the first prequel. But it was just that...a filler.
The fact that Gus is morbidly obese at the beginning of this series was definitely something that needed to be bought back into peoples minds. His addiction to food that has not just disappeared due to current circumstances or his lying to himself about what will be required to survive. I'm glad that Keith reminded people as there are fans out there picking out people to play the roll that are all fit and good looking. Gus is average and fat. That's part of his charm if you will.
Religion still plays a part in this book as well. Not sure what Keith was thinking when he had Gus claim that he was not religious at all, yet wanted to read the bible just to knock that one off his list. Just had me shaking my head. I kept expecting a big event to happen that made him 'believe' which would explain all the wishing to his sky daddy in all of the other books. Well that never happened. Actually almost nothing happens.
Do yourself a favor and leave this book till last for when Gus and his itchy balls have you wanting more. And let's hope there is more to come.

Historia
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

I must have missed something
Revisado: 07-26-21
While the story itself was not bad, I was not enthralled with it and it often lost my attention. Being a fan of Ray Porter, I'm glad to say he did not let me down. However I think that trying to reach the heights of The Martian (read by RC Bray), is something Andy will never be able to do.
I will relisten and may change my review, but at this point, with only one laugh out loud moment for me, it will be a while till I get around to doing that.
Glad to read that it will be turned into a movie as like Artemis, this will play better on the screen. And unlike The Martian, I will not mind the heavy editing that a movie does to a book.

Historia
After a long day on the job, house painter Gus Berry is looking forward to relaxing and spending some time with his girlfriend before returning to work the next day. But none of that is going to happen. Gus’s coworker Benny has found them a painting gig at the local Mollymart East, and it has to be done by morning. If Gus and his crew can complete the work on time, it could mean huge business with a major grocery store chain.

It's always beneficial to have the back story and this answered quite a few questions. Another one of this series that gets at least one listen per year.

My favorite of all the Mountain Man books
Revisado: 04-17-21
This is a book that by right, I probably should have worn out by now. It is my most listened to book and I still intend to go back again. It is so full of story and the introduction of Collie with that unique voice of her's and Wallace, just brilliant.

Some people get rather offended by a female character, main one at that, being seen as stronger than the main male character. Well she is so deal with it. If this series ever gets turned into movies or a TV series, I so hope they do her character justice.

Some of the reviews made this sound like a very racist book. It certainly is not that, if you actually listen to the story. It is a book I will definitely give another listen to.

Historia
As a child, Chris Hooper dreamed of monsters. But in deep space, he found only darkness and isolation. Then, on planet LV178, he and his fellow miners discovered a storm-scoured, sand-blasted hell - and trimonite, the hardest material known to man. When a shuttle crashes into the mining ship Marion, the miners learn that there was more than trimonite deep in the caverns. There was evil, hibernating and waiting for suitable prey.

These Alien multicast audio dramas are some of my favorites. Oddly enough, this particular book is my choice for falling asleep to now I know the story so well. Maybe not everyone's choice but it works for me.

Better than the cover reveals
Revisado: 04-17-21
I purchased this book as I had to use up credits and am a fan of the narrator. So glad I did. The cover would normally have put me off as boxing stories don't appeal but then again, neither did space stories at one time.
It's so much more than boxing and well worth a credit. Set back in the days ice block deliveries prior to refrigeration, even my 103 year old Nanna liked hearing me explain the story to her. Thank you for that.

Too woke even though I hate that term.
Revisado: 04-17-21
What was the author thinking? The first book was fun and you could lose yourself in it. I listen to it on multiple occasions. This one, well once was enough. I would just start to enjoy it then some currently politically correct statement would be thrown in to appease the current generation. Ruined a good thing.

Historia
Joe Simpson, with just his partner, Simon Yates, tackled the unclimbed West Face of the remote 21,000-foot Siula Grande in the Peruvian Andes in June of 1985. But before they reached the summit, disaster struck. A few days later, Simon staggered into Base Camp, exhausted and frostbitten, to tell their non-climbing companion that Joe was dead. For three days he wrestled with guilt as they prepared to return home. Then a cry in the night took them out with torches, where they found Joe, badly injured.

Love the movie, the book is better
Revisado: 04-17-21
This is a book that I have listened to on multiple occasions. Being a true story drew me in to my initial purchase of the book and I have certainly gotten my monies worth out of it. The movie of the same name is also worth a watch and gives the visual of what it was like. Beautiful but deadly. I'll be listening again some time soon.
