Historia
"No killing Goblins." So reads the sign outside of The Wandering Inn, a small building run by a young woman named Erin Solstice. She serves pasta with sausage, blue fruit juice, and dead acid flies on request. And she comes from another world. Ours. It's a bad day when Erin finds herself transported to a fantastical world and nearly gets eaten by a Dragon. She doesn't belong in a place where monster attacks are a fact of life, and where Humans are one species among many. But she must adapt to her new life. Or die.

The terrible main characters
Revisado: 12-03-24
There was a lot to like in this story but I couldn't stand the 2 main characters. Erin's sense of guilt is forced and overplayed (feels bad for a group that has tried to kill her rape her numerous times) and Ryoka has to be the most one-dimensional character I've read since HWFWM. The tough girl, better-than-everyone, smarter-than-everyone shtick got really old, really fast. Again, a lot to like but I couldn't get over the main characters.

Historia
Jason arrives at a kingdom in peril and he's surprised to discover that it's not his job to save it. With the authorities fulfilling their responsibilities (for once), he looks forward to some quiet time to rest and recuperate. The locals might not find ceaseless monster onslaughts and an interdimensional invasion relaxing, but Jason has had a rough few years. He's doing his best to let go of his anger. While his team is caught up in duty, Jason has no shortage of people looking to interfere with his rest. Enemies—old and new—are circling, and even would-be allies are trouble.

Filler
Revisado: 09-17-22
There's a lot of filler in this book and Jason has become one of the most annoying, cliche protagonists I can think of. This will be the last book in the series I pick up.

Historia
Artorian wakes on a brand-new planet, refreshed and ready to make some mischief now that he’s back in Cal’s soul space! Eternium is old news; in fact, now that Barry is completely forked, the curtains on Eternia’s Alpha have closed. Being awake has its upsides, but there are a few...concerns. Cal, even unconscious, is pushing the boundaries of the double-S ranks. With oaths and promises in peril, should he breach that rank before letting people live their lives, Artorian will hustle and bustle to lay the groundwork for mass-decanting. Surely nothing will go wrong.

I should've stopped listening a few books ago
Revisado: 06-17-22
First off, I've listened to hundreds of books and this is only the second one I've returned. I initially loved the series but the last few books don't actually forward the story in any meaningful way. The series seems like it's on pause and the writing is starting to bother me.
The Archives always spent time explaining the world mechanics but it's gotten ridiculous now - it's the first half of the book. And now there are non-stop pop culture references that are completely out of place. "He landed in the Hulk stance" has no place in a fantasy book that takes place in a different world. At one point one of the characters quotes Shakespeare and within a minute is singing Take Me Home, Country Roads. I don't mind a pop culture reference here and there but it is literally forced into the story every chance the author gets.
The only reason I'm not giving it one star is because the narrator is great, as always.

Artorian has finally come to an accord with Eternium in the name of destroying the demon infestation. By relying on his past successes in Eternia, successful alliances, races believing in their sun-deity with all their hearts, and exotic new artifacts, Artorian throws the first stone to accelerate the beginning of Eternium’s end.

9 hours going over stats, mechanics, abilities, etc. 2 hours of actual story that moves the plot along. I loved everything Divine Dungeon but it's getting hard to justify buying a book when the bulk of it is just numbers being read off.

I don't understand the hype
Revisado: 04-12-19
I wanted to love this book but it seemed drawn out and uneventful. I kept waiting for something to happen, but I was disappointed. The narration was good but the writing was cliche and I feel like the same story could have been told.in half the words.

Historia
One of the world's most famous and influential books, Meditations, by the Roman emperor Marcus Aurelius (AD 121 - 180), incorporates the stoic precepts he used to cope with his life as a warrior and administrator of an empire. Ascending to the imperial throne in AD 161, Aurelius found his reign beset by natural disasters and war. In the wake of these challenges, he set down a series of private reflections, outlining a philosophy of commitment to virtue above pleasure and tranquility above happiness.

*I received a code for this book in exchange for writing a review.
I had read Meditations for school years ago and enjoyed it, so it was good to review it. While I liked the narrator and Aurelius' writings, keep in mind that if you are reading books like this for school it is helpful to have the footnotes that you will only get in the paperback versions.

Would you try another book from Lawrence Johnson, Sr. and/or Alistair Dryburgh?
Yes.
Any additional comments?
I just want to clarify that the 3 star review I gave this book is not a bad thing. Most people on Audible seem way too eager to give everything 5 stars so it gets hard to actually judge if a book is worthwhile or not. 5 stars should be reserved for your absolute favourite books, 4 stars for great books, and 3 for good books. This is a good book. I enjoyed the short mysteries and would recommend this book to mystery/Sherlock Holmes fans.
