Historia
Women can be heroes. When twenty-year-old nursing student Frances “Frankie” McGrath hears these words, it is a revelation. Raised in the sun-drenched, idyllic world of Southern California and sheltered by her conservative parents, she has always prided herself on doing the right thing. But in 1965, the world is changing, and she suddenly dares to imagine a different future for herself. When her brother ships out to serve in Vietnam, she joins the Army Nurse Corps and follows his path.

Riveting, powerful, and totally engrossing!
Revisado: 04-01-24
I am a lover of history and a female Navy veteran (1990-2014). This book is a tribute to a time when serving as a woman and the facts about Vietnam were almost unimaginable. This book took me there, in my mind. The pain, the terror, AND the good times. This book is a journey and one you’ll be glad you decided to take.

Historia
In the spring of 1942, young Elzbieta Rabinek is aware of the swiftly growing discord just beyond the courtyard of her comfortable Warsaw home. She has no fondness for the Germans who patrol her streets and impose their curfews, but has never given much thought to what goes on behind the walls that contain her Jewish neighbors. She knows all too well about German brutality - and that it's the reason she must conceal her true identity. But in befriending Sara, Elzbieta makes a discovery that propels her into a dangerous world of deception and heroism.

Historia
Lena has her killer style, her awesome boyfriend, and a plan. She knows she's going to make it big. Campbell, on the other hand, is just trying to keep her head down and get through the year at her new school. When both girls attend the Friday-night football game, what neither expects is for everything to descend into sudden mass chaos. Chaos born from violence and hate. Chaos that unexpectedly throws them together. They aren't friends. They hardly understand the other's point of view. But none of that matters when the city is up in flames.

Historia
To take a skeptical approach to American history is not to dabble in imaginative conspiracy theories; rather, it's to reframe your understanding of this great nation's past and actually strengthen your appreciation for what makes American history such a fascinating chapter in the larger story of Western civilization. And in this bold 24-lecture series, you can do just that.

I salute you Mr. Luttrell!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
This story is one example of what our military walks into when they volunteer and deploy to maintain our freedom. The courage and devotion to duty shown by this team of Seals will make you proud and yet completely break your heart. That Marcus was able to survive all of that physically is amazing, but after what he went through - to have survived it mentally is almost as unbelievable. He no doubt has guardian angels standing with him. This book should be required reading for all Americans.
What does Kevin T. Collins bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
He has a way of bringing the slight humor present out, because he seems to capture some of the personality of Marcus. I am not usually a fan of military books, but Kevin reads this book with feeling and expression that I almost forgot I was reading a book about war.
