Historia
Made sisters by marriage but not by choice, the bond between Lora and Alice is marred by envy and mistrust. Spurred on by inconsistencies in Alice's personal history and possibly jealous of Alice's hold on her brother, Lora finds herself lured into the dark alleys and mean streets of seamy Los Angeles. Assuming the role of amateur detective, she uncovers a shadowy world of drugs, prostitution, and ultimately, murder.

Production and editing of audio is off

Chapter breaks are abrupt and I keep thinking it’s skipping over parts. Disappointed because I like the story and love Megan Abbott.

Historia
Best-selling author Bryan Burrough recently made a shocking discovery: The small town of Temple, Texas, where he had grown up, had harbored a dark secret. One of his high school classmates, Danny Corwin, was a vicious serial killer. In this chilling tale, Burrough raises important questions of whether serial killers can be recognized before they kill or rehabilitated after they do. It is also a story of Texas politics and power that led the good citizens of the town of Temple to enable a demon who was their worst nightmare.

So disappointing
Revisado: 03-28-19
I wanted to like this because I thought that perhaps this would explore small town politics and church culture but instead the story spends more time pointing at the horrible things and asking rhetorical questions about “who could do such a thing?” and “was he evil?” without providing many answers.
Also, the narrator is all wrong for True Crime. His voice is cheery and would be better suited for less grisly descriptions.
