Historia
One of Jane Austen’s most beloved works, Pride and Prejudice, is vividly brought to life by Academy Award nominee Rosamund Pike ( Gone Girl). In her bright and energetic performance of this British classic, she expertly captures Austen’s signature wit and tone. Her attention to detail, her literary background, and her performance in the 2005 feature film version of the novel provide the perfect foundation from which to convey the story of Elizabeth Bennet, her four sisters, and the inimitable Mr. Darcy.

Jane Austen and Rosalind Pike are a match made in Heaven
Revisado: 02-21-22
I’ve seen the Kiera Knightly version of Pride and Prejudice more times than I can count. I didn’t think I could enjoy the book even more than I already do, and when I found this version narrated by Jane Bingley herself—get right out of town! She is a PHENOMENAL narrator. At the point where Lady Catherine is confronting Lizzie, I actually had to remind myself that both voices were coming from just one person. Incredible!

Not what I was expecting, but loved it
Revisado: 11-05-21
I can’t quite say what I thought this book would turn out to be. Based on the description, I was surprised that the A plot and driving force of the story was actually developed and brought to life in the background. I think OSC did a beautiful job of this, and I felt as if I was a part of the Fletcher family and experiencing everything with them. I found this book to be very hard to put down, and when I finally did after finishing it, I was unexpectedly moved. I will be thinking about this one for a while.

I’d skip past “The bright and shining path”
Revisado: 08-24-21
This was...not for me. I don’t want to rag on the story itself too much bc I’m not as familiar with this genre, so maybe it was better than I thought. But I will say this author used the phrase “the bright and shining path” SO MUCH that when I finally go and see the light at the end of the tunnel, I’ll probably think to myself “Oh look. The bright and shining path.”

The voice acting here blew me away. I did listen to it at 1.3x speed, but that only enhanced the listening experience and added even more emotional weight to the performance.
The story itself was also very well crafted for such a short piece.

Historia
Tribulation is a twisted mystery about an end-of-days religious cult manipulating space and traveling across planes of existence on electricity and radio signals. Cult members willingly accept seven brutal years of torture, known as their “tribulation,” to atone for their earthly sins and come out on the other side saved (or thoroughly brainwashed?). The hero of this thriller, Stacy Carlson, must uncover the mystery of the Tribulation cult after her husband Greg is kidnapped by its leader, Brother Elijah (Josh Charles), through a bizarre AM radio broadcast.

Incredible sound design, ok story
Revisado: 07-15-21
I thought the concept was interesting, but certain things in the plot didn’t connect for me. That being said, the sound design and production for this audio “play” was unbelievable. All of the voice actors did excellent work, but the mixing of sound and the auditory effects of the world within the “radio” was next level. The people experiencing tribulation was genuinely tough to listen to because it sounded so realistic.
At the end of the day, I could have passed on the story itself, but I might actually say it’s worth listening to just for the audio experience alone. And, like they say, wear headphones.
P.s. I listened to this at 1.3X speed bc I like more natural/conversational pacing, and it seemed to enhance the experience for me.

A book about a man reading a book
Revisado: 07-07-21
While at the heart of it this is really a book about a man reading a book, it’s so much more than that. I hate spoilers, so I’ll keep it vague, but I thought this was a brilliant way of laying out the case and the author pulled it off beautifully.
I listened to The Liar’s Girl by this author before listening to this, and didn’t make the connection until a reference was made to the case from TLG. Between the two, i definitely feel like this book took a much more creative approach as a crime thriller.
Both narrators were great and brought the story to life. I recommend listening to this at 1.3X speed for a more natural/conversational pace.

Interesting premise, plot just “ok”
Revisado: 06-24-21
Loved the idea behind this, but the plot didn’t quite work for me. And the cat gimmick. Oof. Once or twice, sure, but that was way too frequent for me.

Historia
Every object has a ghost. There is a small yellow backpack - half unzipped, mouth yawning to the pavement, contents strewn around it (a banana, an exercise book, a pair of scissors) - abandoned on a suburban footpath. Ten feet away, the rubber stamp of tyres, resisting clamped brakes, mount the curb and cut across the path. The tracks come to an end at a crippled stop sign. The street, a tree-lined suburban road dappled in late-afternoon sunlight, is calm. But anyone walking past can feel the ghosts: the prickle on the back of their necks that tells them something happened here.

WOWZERS
Revisado: 06-23-21
I went into this with zero information as I sometimes like to start a book completely unaware of what I’ll get myself into. What an unexpected delight this was. Suspense/thrillers tend to be my go-to for audiobooks, and I’ve been around the block enough to usually put 2 and 2 together, but not this time. A true 10/10.
P.A. I recommend listening to this at 1.3X speed as it makes the dialogue pacing feel more natural.

Not surprising but a good way to pass the time
Revisado: 04-13-21
I predicted the plot pretty much within the first chapter, but I still enjoyed this listen. Good pacing and developed characters for a short story. Had I not listened to a lot of fiction in this genre, I probably wouldn’t have guessed it so early. I recommend listening to it at 1.3x speed for a more conversational/natural tone.
