Historia
Hailed as one of the Great American Novels, The Great Gatsby delves into the dark corners of the Jazz Age to tell a tragic tale of obsession, love, and the gritty underbelly of the American dream. Through the eyes of unassuming narrator Nick Carraway, the story follows the enigmatic Jay Gatsby as he chases the object of his hopeless desire, the beautiful Daisy Buchanan.

Fantastic book with excellent narration
Revisado: 12-15-23
I’ve always wanted to read “The Great Gatsby” but never make time to read for pleasure anymore. It was so great to be able to have the experience of “reading” it with an audiobook, since I can listen while driving etc.
I listened to the beginnings of three different versions and chose this one because I liked this narrator best. He reads it with heart and sensitivity and at a well-measured, non-rushed pace that was far superior to the others I sampled. Highly recommended.

Historia
It's just a small story really, about, among other things, a girl, some words, an accordionist, some fanatical Germans, a Jewish fist-fighter, and quite a lot of thievery. Set during World War II in Germany, Markus Zusak's groundbreaking new novel is the story of Liesel Meminger, a foster girl living outside of Munich. Liesel scratches out a meager existence for herself by stealing when she encounters something she can't resist: books.

I really enjoyed this touching story, and the narrator was very good. A great book.

Historia
"Are you one of us?" a patient once asked Marsha Linehan, the world-renowned psychologist who developed dialectical behavior therapy. "Because if you were, it would give all of us so much hope." Over the years, DBT had saved the lives of countless people fighting depression and suicidal thoughts, but Linehan had never revealed that her pioneering work was inspired by her own desperate struggles as a young woman. Only when she received this question did she finally decide to tell her story.

Deepened my understanding of DBT
Revisado: 12-14-23
Hate to say it, buy while I found her personal story to be interesting background, I did not care for how much in-depth that aspect of it was. All the ins and outs and ups and downs of her personal story and also of all the different aspects of what it took to get DBT accepted by the professional community was not particularly of interest to me and not impactful. I would have liked it if instead, the author culled the story down to the essentials, highlighting only the parts that tied into insights and discoveries. I found those parts interesting as they illuminated why and how DBT works, helping my understanding of the personal work I am doing. The book did give me a better understanding of DBT, how it works and how it differs from related therapy modalities with which I was already familiar and that I have not found to be completely effective for my own needs. For me, this understanding helps with willingness to trust the process and do the work. I also liked that the book does explain a number of specific exercises and tips. I would have liked it if there were an included PDF that highlighted and reinforced key insights and that reinforced and gave instruction for exercises that were mentioned in the audio tape. That would have made it a more effective tool for individuals looking for help with their DBT journey:
