Historia
Mike Campbell was the lead guitarist for Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers from the band’s inception in 1976 to Petty’s tragic death in 2017. His iconic, melodic playing helped form the foundation of the band’s sound, as heard on definitive classics like “American Girl,” “Breakdown,” “Don’t Come Around Here No More,” “Mary Jane’s Last Dance,” “Learning to Fly” and “Into the Great Wide Open.”

Revisado: 04-25-25
For rock and roll fans this is a must read/listen! So many great stories involving big time rock personalities! And having the author tell the tale is special! And a good reminder of how great the band was! And how great Mike Campbell is!

The company of the Ring is torn asunder. Frodo and Sam continue their journey alone down the great River Anduin - alone, that is, save for the mysterious creeping figure that follows wherever they go. This continues the classic tale begun in The Fellowship of the Ring, which reaches its awesome climax in The Return of the King.

Performance is beyond fantastic
Revisado: 12-04-23
The story is of course wonderful but Andy Serkis brings it alive! One of the best performances I’ve heard! Gollum’s voice is particularly good!

Revisado: 11-07-23
Of course the book is fantastic! I’ve read the books many times but if you want a fantastic performance that makes the characters and story come alive, listen to this version. I was listening to the free version and had to stop about halfway through and buy this one.

When a house explodes in a quiet Oxford suburb and a young girl disappears in the aftermath, Sarah Tucker becomes obsessed with finding her. Accustomed to dull chores in a childless household and hosting her husband’s wearisome business clients for dinner, Sarah suddenly finds herself questioning everything she thought she knew, as her investigation reveals that people long believed dead are still among the living, while the living are fast joining the dead.

I’m shocked!
Revisado: 09-08-23
Shocked at the poor reviews regarding the narration! I thought it was brilliant! Fit the character perfectly, I thought. And the story was excellent as well. Sure, it wasn’t Slough House, it’s a different story altogether that just happened to involve some spooks.

Historia
William Henry Devereaux, Jr., spiritually suited to playing left field but forced by a bad hamstring to try first base, is the unlikely chairman of the English department at West Central Pennsylvania University. Over the course of a single convoluted week, he threatens to execute a duck, has his nose slashed by a feminist poet, discovers that his secretary writes better fiction than he does, suspects his wife of having an affair with his dean, and finally confronts his philandering elderly father, the one-time king of American Literary Theory, at an abandoned amusement park.

Historia
In the early 18th century, the Pirate Republic was home to some of the great pirate captains, including Blackbeard, "Black Sam" Bellamy, and Charles Vane. Along with their fellow pirates - former sailors, indentured servants, and runaway slaves - this "Flying Gang" established a crude but distinctive democracy in the Bahamas, carving out their own zone of freedom in which servants were free, Blacks could be equal citizens, and leaders were chosen or deposed by a vote.

Great history book - not a novel!
Revisado: 04-18-23
Very informative and a great history of pirates of the Caribbean! And I much appreciated the information about Capt Woodes Rogers as I first read his book almost 60 years ago when I was in elementary school. But sorry and sad to find out he was such a slaver!
I thought the narrator did a fine job!

Historia
"Call me Ishmael." Thus starts the greatest American novel. Melville said himself that he wanted to write "a mighty book about a mighty theme" and so he did. It is a story of one man's obsessive revenge-journey against the white whale, Moby-Dick, who injured him in an earlier meeting. Woven into the story of the last journey of The Pequod is a mesh of philosophy, rumination, religion, history, and a mass of information about whaling through the ages.

Great story and Performance
Revisado: 10-21-22
Runs too long with what I thought was some unnecessary detail but still a great classic! And this is a perfect example of why not to judge a narrator to quickly! I was not at all happy with the narration at first but it soon became very good and overall was fantastic!

For David Goggins, childhood was a nightmare--poverty, prejudice, and physical abuse colored his days and haunted his nights. But through self-discipline, mental toughness, and hard work, Goggins transformed himself from a depressed, overweight young man with no future into a US Armed Forces icon and one of the world's top endurance athletes. The only man in history to complete elite training as a Navy SEAL, Army Ranger, and Air Force tactical air controller, he went on to set records in numerous endurance events.

Historia
When Twenty Years After opens it is 1648: the Red Sphinx, Cardinal Richelieu, is dead, France is ruled by a regency in the grip of civil war, and across the English Channel the monarchy of King Charles I hangs by a thread. As d’Artagnan will find, these are problems that can’t be solved with a sword thrust. In Twenty Years After, the musketeers confront maturity and face its greatest challenge: sometimes, you fail. It’s in how the four comrades respond to failure, and rise above it, that we begin to see the true characters of Dumas’s great heroes.
