Historia
I was so excited when Darcy announced out of the blue that we were flying to Kenya for our extended honeymoon. Now that we are here, I suspect he has actually been sent to fulfill another secret mission. I am trying very hard not to pick a fight about it, because after all, we are in paradise! Darcy finally confides that there have been robberies in London and Paris. It seems the thief was a member of the aristocracy and may have fled to Kenya. Since we are staying in the Happy Valley, we are well positioned to hunt for clues and ferret out possible suspects.

Cheetahs Or cheaters?
Revisado: 10-17-19
Interesting tale, based partially on fact of life in the 30’s in Kenya. Darcy and Lady Georgina head out on their extended honeymoon. Interesting description of the multistage flight from England to Nairobi, entailing trains, planes, bi-planes, flying ship and safari vehicles. Tensions between local Brit expats and tribesmen, with the not so pretty side of Imperial England coming out. Jewel thieves, drug dealers, nazi spies, sex parties. All that was needed were tommy gun toting gangsters like Capone (or later the Krause) to have all period arch enemies covered. Throw in one of Georgie’s mother’s opponents in love and the future King of England and Mrs Simpson, and you have a fine mess on your hands.

Hard to review without spoilers
Revisado: 04-07-16
This latest in the Russell-Holmes saga answers many questions about two of the characters earlier lives and is the first with two readers. Susan Lyons reads the "historical" portions of the book and Jenny Sturlin, the voice we are used to hear, reads the "contemporary ".
It is very hard to review without letting loose spoilers, but you will learn much of the early Holmes-Mrs Hudson-Billy relationship and how it became so integral to the Sherlock experience over the years.
The story flips between the "present" of the 1925 of Mary and the 1860- 80's and onwards of Miss , then Mrs Hudson and Biily and their merger with Mr. Holmes.
There were several "oh hell!" Moments for this reader, and I wonder how Ms King is going to pick up the pieces and continue on with the next installment. It will be interesting to see if the characters continue on as left or if new characters are introduced to the mix.

Historia
Though she cannot entirely discount the effects of the head injuries they were both suffering at the time, Mary Russell is delighted by Sherlock Holmes' proposal of marriage. After all, they have become partners in crime, and she has recently come into her inheritance: What remains but to confirm the union with her mentor-turned-partner with the piece of paper?

A lovely little tale
Revisado: 03-17-16
That fills in some of the missing pieces in the early Holmes-Russell marriage. as usual Jenny Sterling's rich voice has added to the mix, and the melange of characters is delightful. More insight into Mrs Hudson and Mycroft, too.
My only complaint, as usual with a Holmes-Russell tale is that it ends too soon
