Fascinating information
Revisado: 01-09-25
I seem to gravitate towards books that help me improve my health without the use of drugs. This book is possibly the best read/listen I’ve found in a long time. I had no idea the state of the vagus nerve could so significantly influence our mental and physical health. The exercises the author describes are extremely easy to do on yourself and, yes, I feel better after doing them. I’ve ordered a hard copy book to have for reference (hopefully, it has some pictures of the exercises and trigger points discussed).

Lovely historical fiction
Revisado: 01-18-20
Oh, how I love British mysteries! Especially those set in the distant past. This book is now one of my favourites that I will definitely listen to again. The narrator is superb. I felt like I was right there alongside the characters in the story. A truly satisfying experience.

It’s no wonder that The Power of Now has sold over 16 million copies worldwide and has been translated into over 30 foreign languages. Much more than simple principles and platitudes, the book takes readers on an inspiring spiritual journey to find their true and deepest self and reach the ultimate in personal growth and spirituality: the discovery of truth and light. In the first chapter, Tolle introduces listeners to enlightenment and its natural enemy, the mind.

Just what I needed
Revisado: 06-07-19
I have been a student of A Course in Miracles for many years and was pleasantly surprised to hear the author refer to it several times throughout this book. The Power of Now feels like the natural “next step” in my journey. I’ve recently started working on “presence” - trying to focus my attention on being in the present moment and this book has helped me better understand how to go about it. I especially like the term “the watcher” that the author uses to explain the concept.

Historia
Frances Wynn, the American-born Countess of Harleigh, enjoys more freedom as a widow than she did as a wife. After an obligatory year spent mourning her philandering husband, Reggie, she puts aside her drab black gowns, leaving the countryside and her money-grubbing in-laws behind. With her young daughter in tow, Frances rents a home in Belgravia and prepares to welcome her sister, Lily, arriving from New York - for her first London season.

Just my kind of story
Revisado: 02-27-19
I love historical fiction, especially when it involves a mystery to be solved. I found this particular book purely by chance, whilst searching for books on etiquette. I enjoyed it immensely. The characters are well thought out and the narrator performs each of them superbly. The story itself moves forward in an expectant way; however, there are a few plot twists that kept me guessing all the way to the end. I’m really looking forward to the next book in the series, which I believe is due out in June 2019.

While the world seems to be in love with the idea of tiny houses and minimalism, many of us simply can't purge it all and start from nothing. Yet a home with too much stuff is difficult to maintain, so where do we begin? Add in paralyzing emotional attachments and constant life challenges, and it can feel almost impossible to make real decluttering progress.

Love this book...listening again for a 3rd time!
Revisado: 10-04-18
This is one of the few books I have that I never get tired of listening to. The author speaks to her readers with compassion and understanding because she has truly been where we are and that, to me, is very important. Her ideas are simple, clear and very effective. I like listening to this book whilst driving and running errands. It keeps the basic concepts fresh in my mind for when I get home. It helps me to remember to pay attention to the “visible” areas of my home as I walk in the door and to immediately put things away in the first place I would look for them.

Title is very misleading...
Revisado: 10-04-18
This is not a book about simply decluttering, as the title suggests. The author wants the reader to self-analyze and spend time contemplating abstract ideas before getting down to the nitty-gritty of actually decluttering and organizing anything. I had never heard of this author before but I enjoy reading/listening to books about decluttering/organizing, so I thought it was a good choice during a recent sale. The introduction and first chapter were very painful to listen to. It’s clear that the author has a very high opinion of himself and has certainly never suffered from the untidy affliction his target audience obviously suffers from. That is, being overwhelmed with too much stuff. I’m sorry but, in my opinion, he lacks credibility. Perhaps if I hadn’t recently listened to “Decluttering at the Speed of Life” by Dana K White, I might have liked this book better. Although, probably not. White’s book (also read by the author) was much more engaging with practical advice from the very beginning.

I thoroughly enjoyed listening to John Wood narrate this book. He’s very good with changing his voice for the various characters. It gives you a true sense of their individual personalities. I shall happily listen to it again and again.

Easier to hear than to read
Revisado: 03-15-17
I was required to read Oedipus Rex for my humanities class but found it difficult to understand as I was reading it. I found this particular audiobook (with Michael Sheen) very helpful. Although the words spoken were not verbatim to the book I have, the music was helpful for me to follow along in the book. The actors articulated very well using modern-day English. Overall, I give it 5 stars!
