Historia
Washington, DC, 1950. Everyone keeps to themselves at Briarwood House, a down-at-the-heels all-female boardinghouse in the heart of the nation’s capital where secrets hide behind white picket fences. But when the lovely, mysterious widow Grace March moves into the attic room, she draws her oddball collection of neighbors into unlikely friendship. Grace’s weekly attic-room dinner parties and window-brewed sun tea become a healing balm on all their lives, but she hides a terrible secret of her own.

Wonderful characters and story
Revisado: 10-15-24
The characters are diverse and interesting people. Their lives become interwoven and friendships form when one woman moves into the boarding house. I enjoyed how the characters reflected so many things that were happening during this time and the way the house becomes a home. The narration is excellent.

This book is awesome. The story was wonderfully written and read. I appreciated the explanation at the end that described the author’s experience and process in the writing of this book which helped understand what was fiction.

This woman’s story is amazing.
Revisado: 08-18-24
I love that the book is read by the author since it is her story. She is honest and authentic. I am deeply moved and grateful to her for sharing her life stories. I really can’t find the words to properly describe how good this book is. I am using the present tense because I’m sure it will continue to settle in my soul. So much to take away from this- Thank You!

Her story is amazing. It is very courageous of her to tell her story and I hope that it does inspire people to take notice if something seems off. Her resilience and attitude are amazing too.

This book was amazing. It transports you back in time to the Vietnam War era and the aftermath. It was really disgraceful how the veterans and women were treated. There is a lot to be learned from this book. Excellent writing, reading and story.
