Roxy is back and all the adventure is right on her doorstep. A study in how success can change our priorities (if we aren’t careful) you’ll never guess the culprit in this one – although there are plenty of obvious ‘bad guys’. Fun narration in this audio book version!

You think you know who done it -- until you don't
Revisado: 10-31-24
Do you believe it is possible to communicate with the dead? Roxy doesn’t, but a last minute invitation to a séance (more a case of “you are cordially invited to this mandatory function”) has her wondering. With the continually developing characters in Alison Golden’s 3rd installment of the Roxy Reinhardt Mysteries series we get to see a new side of Nat, who is becoming an interesting puzzle. As always with this author, in “Louisiana Lies” you think you know who done it – until you don’t.

Fun and entertaining
Revisado: 10-11-24
Alison Golden is one of my favorite Cozy Mystery authors. Her plot lines will keep you guessing with characters that are engaging, growing and developing throughout a series – and the Roxy Reinhardt Mysteries are no exception. I read the print version of “Mardi Gras Madness”, the first in the series, several years ago and was so excited to have the opportunity to preview the audio version. The narration is very good with easily identifiable voices for each character and I found that the narrator’s interpretation of the roles really fleshed out my mental picture over and above what I had envisioned when reading the original print. I’m going to enjoy listening to this series.

Revisado: 10-01-24
How do two brothers heal a relationship haunted by family secrets? What becomes important to two officers facing the very real possibility of death? What do you do with a puppy that fails his final exam? And in the middle of all this there is a very intriguing mystery that needs to be solved.
Alison Graham's cozy mystery books remain fresh and challenging as her characters progress and their lives develop over the course of the series in a believable and relatable way. I recommend a 'visit' to the British Channel Islands on a regular basis!

A thoroughly enjoyable series
Revisado: 09-20-24
How do you determine the manner of death when there is no clear evidence? When you are interviewing a group of actors, how do you separate true emotion from ‘playing the role’?
In “The Case of Sampson’s Leap” the author explores the areas of not only murder but of bullying, suicide and the forensic sciences used to determine how a death occurred when there were no witnesses. Each installment in the Inspector Graham series is fresh and engaging, with characters that grow in depth and interest.
As always the narration is excellent, with clear differentiation between characters and excellent sound effects. A thoroughly enjoyable series both in print and audio.

Fun, quirky and great narration
Revisado: 06-13-24
The narration of this story had me from the first paragraph. I love Mitzy's self deprecating quick wit and stubborn independence. She has a blunt honesty and self awareness that is refreshing, just sassy enough to be interesting but not obnoxious.
While all audio books can be read as print, not all print books should be made into audio. It is necessary for an audio book to hold focus on very few characters in order to avoid confusion on the part of the listener, and this series hits this mark admirably. The auxiliary characters are fleshed out well enough to make them interesting without taking too many strolls down garden paths that don't necessarily lead to anything significant. My compliments to the author on keeping this story line clean and clear.
The narration is spot on, with a clear differentiation between character voices. And I reiterate, Mitzy's personality is brought out quickly through a splendidly talented storytelling by Coleen Marlo.
With a fun cast of characters this one will keep you guessing. I look forward to listening to more of Ms Marlo's narrations, and reading more of Trixie Silvertale's stories.

A Deeper Than Usual Cozy Mystery
Revisado: 03-10-24
Once again the Jersey Team does not disappoint! The characters have definitely matured and story lines advanced, but that is what I like to see in a long running series. Our lives change and relationships grow easier (or harder) over time so I would expect to see that in a well developed book series as well.
"The Case of the Forsaken Child" is a step above your typical Cozy Mystery in both story line and layers. We get a small glimpse into the dark world of 'deep undercover' police work and the toll it can take on those heroes who live there.
Who IS the Forsaken Child? Billy? Katie? There are so many different ways to "forsake" a child; ultimately we are each responsible for our decisions. However is ANY of the blame mitigated by our circumstances?
As throughout this audio book series the narration is excellent – exactly as I had “heard” the characters when reading the print version.

Inspector Graham - the British Joe Friday
Revisado: 12-27-23
When I read the printed version of this series I was so taken with the calm, focused personality of Inspector Graham, but the spot-on narration in this new audio version takes his character to another level. I have enjoyed everything I have read by Alison Golden, and this series is no exception. Her story lines are fresh, her characters well developed and likeable - and I recommend making a 'visit' to the British Channel Islands on a regular basis!
