Historia
A woman disappears on her way to work. A man is convicted of her murder. But this case is different. Though the police believe they have the right man, key components of the prosecution case are missing. There is no body of the victim, no witnesses to the crime, no confession and no physical evidence: no DNA, CCTV or murder weapon.

Fantastic piece of investigative journalism
Revisado: 01-19-24
a very well produced and prepared journalism. I liked the balanced views most of the time and the sequencing of the story. It is very sad story here, but I admire the work done by the team putting this together.

A very good course and a superb performance
Revisado: 08-20-23
The course delivers is promise fully and to hear details. The performance of the narrator, who is the author, is beyond excellence; it was so enjoyable to listen to him and follow his explanations.

Historia
Most of us have a limited understanding of the powerful role economics has played in shaping human civilization. This makes economic history - the study of how civilizations structured their environments to provide food, shelter, and material goods - a vital lens through which to think about how we arrived at our present, globalized moment. Designed to fill a long-empty gap in how we think about modern history, these 48 lectures are a comprehensive journey through more than 600 years of economic history.

Great Courses...NOT!

A fantastic journey throughout six centuries!
Revisado: 05-05-22
I found this course to be one of the most interesting on the topic. I enjoyed most of it, although the latest chapters were not as interesting and informative as the formers in my opinion. The delivery of the audio version is neat and engaging.
I would start it all over again some time in the future to re enjoy the journey!

A good English training book, but not IELTS.
Revisado: 08-20-19
It is an okay course. I learnt stuff about the English language basics. Also some good tips on standard language exams. Yet, this is not a course that was made specifically for IELTS, not all of it at least.

Historia
The Courage to Be Disliked, already an enormous best seller in Asia with more than 3.5 million copies sold, demonstrates how to unlock the power within yourself to be the person you truly want to be. Using the theories of Alfred Adler, one of the three giants of 20th-century psychology, The Courage to Be Disliked follows an illuminating conversation between a philosopher and a young man. The philosopher explains to his pupil how each of us is able to determine our own life, free from the shackles of past experiences, doubts, and the expectations of others.

The right thing for one can be horrible for others
Revisado: 07-28-19
This book introduces a strong idea about one self control over his life. The book offers a different way to deal with hard moments and tough experiences that can be called trauma, by denying its effect on the present and the future of the person who faced it. This idea can help some people greatly, especially who receive it in the right moment and in the right tone.
However I can imagine that the same message would be so harming and intriguing for others, who shall receive it as a blame message to the victims of traumas. I understood this fully.
The book is put in a dialogue format mimicking the old greek philosophy style. I didn't find this format as best way to receive the book.
I learnt something from this book, and is happy to pick up the Adelerian philosophy as introduced in its chapters. I don't agree on many ideas within, but this is not why we read books anyway.

not laws, and not scientific, but full of wisdom.
Revisado: 07-27-19
The book is full of wise and deep views on the world, and social interconnections between humans. I enjoyed more than anything else the very interesting and well told anecdotes. That said, these views cannot be considered 'laws', this is vast generalization by the author. Also, the book is full of ideas and analysisthat are based on Psychoanalysis theories. I generally find these theories interesting but I don't see these analysing methods scientific, but rather deep trials to understand human behaviour.

Historia
Maverick thinker Nassim Nicholas Taleb had an illustrious career on Wall Street before turning his focus to his black swan theory. Not all swans are white, and not all events, no matter what the experts think, are predictable. Taleb shows that black swans, like 9/11, cannot be foreseen and have an immeasurable impact on the world.

Interesting book that you may like, or hate.
Revisado: 08-02-18
A bold author who does not try to hide his strong opinions on matters, people, and institutions. The author is definitely well informed about the topic, and holds severe deep practical knowledge about randomness aspects of the world.
For some people that thick book can be summarised in one sentence only; shit happens more often than you think. The author ideas are scattered through the parts of the book, and it requires a serious reader (or listener in my case) to follow.
I enjoyed the book, but can easily imagine others who find it difficult or unpleasant read.
The narrator performance is superb, he definitely added to the book in a good way.
